The right-hander had an MRI on his pitching shoulder in Philadelphia that revealed some "pathology" in the labrum and fraying of the rotator cuff, the team announced on Monday night.

Interestingly enough, Manuel is going to put Myers back in the closer role when he returns. Going to leave it up to the kids to pull down the #5. Kyle Kendrick takes his shot tomorrow nite.

Also says he has been hurt since ST. Wonder if the Phils will pursue a grievance with the BlackSux.

Dug up this column from Phil Sheridan too. Fairly interesting read about another organization in the league and their ability to learn from previous encounters. Also a few tidbits of info between the lines.

When he was moved to the bullpen, Myers asked only one thing: that, barring emergency, he remain there. Manuel would like Myers to return in the closer's role. A long absence for Garcia just might count as an emergency.

Manuel was forced by desperation to move Myers to the bullpen. It would be fitting if desperation forced a move back to the rotation. That seems like a more attractive option than digging up Adam Bernero's phone number

He's prob. been pitching thru pain for quite some time, there's been that drop in velo for awhile w/out any DL time.

Depending on the severity, he might be in line for a poor man's version of Livan Hernandez.

You're right. I remember them mentioning during a Cubs broadcast how long he took between pitches and how it looked like he was hurt. Bad idea to trade for him when signs were pointing last year that he was hurt.

Freddy had an MRI in 2006 which showed no damage. EVERYONE knew that Freddy was damaged goods. He lost 7 MPH on his fastball last season and became junk pitcher. The Phils didn't request a physical with the trade.

Well, nobody said the Phillies are smart.

just Kenny up to his old tricks.

for those of you who wondered why Kenny would trade a solid, consistent 200 inning guy for two guys who have an outside shot at being a decent fifth starter, there you have it.

If Kenny is demonstrating some pathology here, perhaps teams will stop dealing with him.
