I'm sorry, but I hate this guy right now. Lets assume that Lilly's pitch was intentional, which I don't think it was. The pitcher was already punished by being ejected first of all, and second of all, the pitch was retaliation for Hudson hitting Soriano yesterday. Why did he hit Soriano? BECAUSE HE HIT THREE HOME RUNS THE NIGHT BEFORE.

So anyways, since Soriano went and attacked Kelly Johnson on Saturday, Edgar naturally decides to clobber Fontenot in retaliation. Oh wait, whats that you say? Soriano did NOTHING after getting plunked in the back? Wait you just randomly decided that Lilly getting ejected wasn't retaliation enough and you had to clobber our AAA callup to teach us a lesson? Maybe if your starting pitcher didn't SUCK so much, Soriano wouldn't be able to hit 3 HRs. But instead you cost us a game in the standings, and possibly 2 if we need to use a lot of the bullpen tonight.

Edgar you suck. I wish the Indians won the World Series in 1997. You don't deserve the honor of having a World Series winning hit. You are a classless player that deserves some punishment for your actions.

Sorry, this can be moved to rants in a little while.

i hope his head falls off.

Seconded.

I hope BOTH of his heads fall off, but the one down south first. A good week before the one up north. So he has to deal with the loss for a week. :D

Yeah, he's a total jerk. The umps enabling his ridiculous behavior? That's even worse.

I'll bet the league doesn't do squat to him either. They'll just let it slide. If it was a Cub delivering a blow to the face? WHOA! HEY! 10 GAME SUSPENSION!!!!!

Give me a freaking break. As if we didn't already have enough problems.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. 100 years of failure -- yes, it's mostly on the Cubs being a bad baseball team. But it certainly doesn't help having to beat the opposition, the umps, and the media with their constant "curse" ranting all year long, either.

To get to the World Series the Cubs must do the equivalent of probably winning 2 World Series in a row for any other club. Just pathetic.

Well, Edgar did say he didn't really have a problem with getting hit, he had a problem with the ball being up at his head. A justifiable stance.

Then again, Hudson's pitch was up near Soriano's head.

Sure, and that is a legitimate gripe. But I don't think his response was justifiable. I think he got his retaliation when Lilly got ejected. The act of clobbering our AAA callup in the face with his forearm was uncalled for and almost malicious. Even a hard takeout slide would be acceptable, but to slide away from the base with your arm in the air trying to make contact with the face of another player is uncalled for. Like you said, the pitch to Soriano was near the head as well (although not as close) and all Soriano did was run to first, and then have a quick word with Hudson later in the game.

Furthermore, the thing that aggrivates me is that this whole thing started ( most likely unless there was something else that we didnt hear about) by Soriano hitting 3 HRs. That is a stupid reason to intentionally hit someone.

Well, that's about the most popular reason to hit a guy, behind hitting a guy because they hit one of yours.

True.

If I'm an ump before yesterday's game, there's no way in hell I'm not saying to myself that there's going to be a retaliation, and the Cubs should be treated equally to the Braves the night before --- I.E. warning issued, not immediate ejection.

It's simply unforgivable to tilt the playing field like that so totally to one team. Then to follow it up with nothing being done for Renteria. God I'm so mad right now. I've got work that needs to be done today, too!

Actually, I don't think it was the 3 HR's that made them want to hit Soriano, it was him trying to stretch a single into a double with a significant lead.

Although, anyone who regularly watches Cubs baseball should know that even a 6-7 run lead isn't a big enough one to be comfortable with knowing our bullpen.

And that pretty much gave the Braves an out. Soriano was nowhere close to second when the throw came in. The Braves should be thanking him and our team for being such horrible baserunners.

looked pretty intentional.

pitch shouldn't have been at the head though.

Renteria shouldn't have smacked the SS, that is bogus.

Wait until the league does nothing about it, then we'll see what's really bogus.

Lou gets a 4 game suspension for YELLING at an ump for good reason (to vent and to hopefully spark his team). Rentersucka and the Braves get NOTHING for intentionally hitting a player as well as elbowing a 2nd basemen. Lilly gets thrown out for intentionally hitting a player.

ummm. . . . this is Lewis Black material. . It's obvious all of baseball hates the god damn cubs.

I've always liked Renteria as a player, even when he was with the Cardinals. But after the crap he pulled last night, he's one of my least favorites in the game.

I used to like really him before yesterday's game. I thought he was a solid player and I wouldn't have minded him at SS for the Cubs. Turns out he's a complete ass.

yeah, i hope the cubs make a bigger stink about this (at least more than i'm aware of them making to this point). they really need to demand the league make a statement about renteria's hit on fontenot, and if they're not going to suspend him, then get an explanantion as to why.

Rentersucka

seriously?

Yeah, there have to be better names than that.

Like Diarrhea for example.

His name is Renterrhea, you morons. Catch up with the times.
