Cubs trade Carlos Zambrano (p) to Indians for Rafael Betancourt (p) and minor-league pitchers Adam Miller and Aaron Laffey. Zambrano may be the Cubs' ace, but his recent fight with catcher Michael Barrett and stalled contract negotiations are two of the biggest reasons the right-hander's also another three-letter word starting with 'A'. New York's probably a perfect destination for him, but the Yankees are probably reluctant to trade the little young pitching they have and the Mets are a league rival.

Yay, Adam Miller. Better than something the Mets would offer.

The Indians would be seriously crazy if they did this.

Westbrook will be back soon from the DL and it matters as to how he re-adjusts. If he cant return to form, then maybe you go out for a Z...but this is a lot of talent to give up for someone who is going to be a FA at seasons end.

The Indians not only lead their division but are 5 games in front of the 2nd place WC team. No reason for them to panic or overpay right now.

Plus Zambrano in the AL where he can stick it to the White Sox all season long ;-). Even if we are in contention come the all-star break this doesn't look like a bad idea.

yeah, but the fight seems to have brought Good Z back from wherever he was hiding

Apparently, just beyond Barrett's lip.

I was actually thinking about the possibility of Z to the Indians recently. But I didn't think Miller would be in the question whatsoever. I was thinking along the lines of Lofgren, Betancourt, and Barton/Crowe.

If Miller is in the deal, I do it today. Heck, I make that trade straight up.

I like Miller more than any pitcher in the minors - I'll include Bailey & Hughes on that comparison, too.

how about we add Jones and Barret and they add Sizemore and Victor Martinez?

And yeah, I'd like to know some more about this Adam Miller guy. The Indians are my "AL Team" (since they used to suck as bad as the cubs) so I wouldn't mind dealing Z to them. Plus, it'd keep him out of the NL (mets) hands for at least a short while.

The problem with trading Z to a team like Cleveland is that they probably wouldn't be able to give him an extension, so he'd hit the free market and redoubtably end up with the mets.

The Indians are building a team that rivals the team that dominated their division from 1995 to 2001. Even though they were a bit young and inexperienced this year, I picked them to win their division.

Meph wasn't a big fan of the players drafted by the Cubs yesterday-hence the use of the bad day.
