We'll see. He'll be ready for Peoria even if he spends all of this summer at Mesa.

It all depends, as always.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look late in the season at Boise, though.

I think he should tear up AZL play. I would hope Boise before the year ends, and peoria next year.

I bet if he signs quickly, and Lansford gets a July promotion that Vitters finishs the 2007 season in Peoria....just a thought...

If he's hitting well enough to justify that move, it would be great. But I'm just hoping he hits well enough to justify a spot in Peoria all next year. I don't want to see any Ryan Harvey type, low average, 4:1 K:BB ratio with OPS being propped up by some power, and doing it in short season ball a year after being drafted.

I dont think his hitting will be a problem, if you should be worried about anything it should be his defense.

I am also anxious to see what Tony Thomas will do in Boise!

Are you talking about Lansford? He's been awful with the bat and he's supposed to be an excellent defender.

Think hes talking about Vitters, TT.

I missed the transition from Lansford to Vitters, I thought Goony was still talking about Carney Jr. My bad.

What transition? Vitters was the primary topic from the start, no?

Nathan was talking about Vitters making it to Peoria if Lansford was worthy of a July promotion. That's who I thought you were talking about with the "hopefully he hits well enough to justify the move".

To conclude, I am awful at reading comprehension.

Ive heard a couple of people say they dont expect Vitters to be able to stick at third, and to expect him to move to the outfield at some point. I think it was Callis that said that, but Im not sure. I think I also just butchered the spelling of Jim's last name.

Lansford's been awful with the bat????? He is hitting .287 which is higher than any other player on our roster who was here on Opening Day. He is 2nd on the team in RBI, 1st in doubles, doesnt strikeout much (20 in 180 AB) and is easily the one guy on this team I would want up in a clutch situation.

And he is the best defensive 3rd baseman I have seen in the MWL.

Lansford's been awful with the bat????? Is that a joke or sarcastic comment? He is hitting .287 which is higher than any other player on our roster who was here on Opening Day. He's hitting for a good enough average, but there's no walks or XBH to go with it. A sub .700 OPS isn't going to cut it for a near 23 year old 3B at Low A.

.694 OPS, 50th in the league. 20/11 K/BB.

Average doesn't mean much.

Does it cut it for a 22 year old at Low A??? Man no wonder you Cubs fans are always disappointed in everything and everybody. Oh and he leads the team in Doubles. He will be the first player on this team to play in the Majors.

I'll stay out of the OPS vs. Avg debate this season. All I'm saying is if you were to watch this team every day you would know that the 2 players who stand out head and shoulder above are Josh and Castillo.

Yeah, no wonder, because a guy like this is actually one of the better ones. Cubs fans are always disappointed because nobody ever comes up and produces. Guys who become really good major leaguers do a whole lot better than what this guy has done at low A.

He may lead the team, but that's because the team stinks. He's tied for about 40th in the league.

Standing out above the crap on that roster doesn't mean much to me, no offense. A .694 ops is bad, and the fact that he is an advanced, 23 year old, college draftee just makes it worse.

Castillo? Maybe I've been abroad too long, but wasn't he sent back to Mesa?

If you mean Carrillo, this is an interesting turn from where you stood at the end of last year when he came up to Peoria briefly and you were not impressed. What's changed about him since then, out of curiosity?

It looks to me like Welington Castillo is on Peoria and putting up identically unimpressive numbers as Lansford. Although he just turned 20 and is a catcher while Lansford is almost 23.
