Sincerely,

Did anyone else see Jones's OPS over the past 7 days? .129?!? An OPS of .129?! I think he's trying to be awful at this point.

Jones + Floyd = 546 in the past 7 days.

Jones in May has essentially been Ronny Cedeno - .194/.239/.323

Jacque has really built himself a heck of a hole to climb out of, at .243/.295/.333, well off his pace of 2006, when he was already up to .278/.317/.474 by this time, relatively close to where he finished the season.

Pie's offense would be a heckuva lot better than that if he played regularly.

Let's just hope Jones continues to do well against Lowe and can improve any bit of trade value. (which is a bit of paradox b/c if he starts doing well the cubs management will think that's they way he will play there on out and then deem him too valuable to trade... erghh!)

I don't know if that's true. I think if Jones starts playing well and Pie tanks, they will view it that way. But I feel Hendry has been itching to get Pie to the bigs for a long time, and apparantly has been looking to deal Jones for a long time. If he could, I think he'd deal him.

Last night I envisioned my ideal lineup being something like:

Pie - obvious reasons

DeRosa - Good OBP, almost league leading P/PA

Lee - Duh

Soriano - Not sure about where he and Aramis go though.

Aramis

Floyd/Murton platoon

Barrett - His bat isn't what it used to be it would seem.

Theriot - See Barrett

Pitcher

That'd be a pretty sweet lineup imo.

To be fair to Cliff, he absolutely mashed a few balls that found gloves near the wall. Jones has just flat out sucked.

Derek Lowe is one of the best groundball pitchers of all-time. Dodger Stadium is one of the toughest parks to hit a HR. Cubs try to uppercut sinkers all night and popup in the IF repeatedly.

Good thing I won't be able to watch tonight.

Dodger Stadium is not that hard to hit home runs in. It actually inflates them.

but the cubs will still probably try to hit his sinker out of the park and will fail miserably (except Soriano, I think he hits a home run in this game).

People have been saying that about Floyd all year. In actuality, he's been a touch lucky on balls in play(19.5 LD%, .320 BABIP)
