I like how many in the media love to talk up the importance of the team concept and whatnot. And then somebody like Farnsworth comes along and gives an honest assessment of the situation, expressing an opinion that is probably shared by at least half the team, and they dismiss him by saying it doesn't matter since it's Farnsworth.

Mike and Mike talked about this.

Golic, who loves to talk about his playing days, keeps comparing it to how he would feel with Reggie White pulling this. There's absolutely no comparison there, as there is never a time when a football team would be playing a game while the star would just go away on game day, assuming he was healthy.

That would be a HELL of a throwdown. I'd pay to see it.

My money would be on Farns even if they were the same age. BTW, bravo to the Farns for speaking his mind.=D>

I'm sure most his teammates feel this, but Farns is the only one that has the balls to say something about it. BRAVO!

And, as I'm sure this has been mentioned elsewhere, Clemens has had the same deal for the past few years, just not for the Yankees where every single move is analyzed ad nauseum.

Exactly. Plus, Farns was asked for his opinion:

"It's just an opinion of mine. I don't think it's a concern at all," he said. "You guys asked my opinion about it and I gave it."

But I agree that it would be a helluva smackdown match. My money would be on Rocket if I could get 7-5 odds.

Obviously, this malcontent MUST be traded. In the sense of fairness, I volunteer to trade them Scott Eyre for him...
And I'd be happy to throw in Miller and Jones. :D

In keeping with the hypocrisy in sports, it's always nice to see people like sports commentators who love the team concept until one of their beloved fellow stars gets an obviously team-unfriendly clause in their contract. Then it's all about what you can get in terms of special treatment for yourself, and everyone else should just shut up and live with it.

It definitely earns this Friday's big, fat

I listened to the interview on the SCORE and Farns was cool, calm, and collected when he talked. The media tends to blow out of proportion what some players said. It's the same thing with Ozzie, AJ, and Mike North on the SCORE today. I am a big SCORE fan, but their journalistic integrity has been given a black eye the last two days because in their updates they made both stories way worse than they really were. After Ozzie swore at North, North said, "Clean up your da_ _ mouth when you're talking on the radio and talking to me. Have a little respect, all right? Don't go talking to me like you're talking down to somebody."

TheScore and journalistic integrity in the same sentence...........wow.

The Farns would probably be more in favor of having the Rocket around full time then they could go out and get hammered the night before the game and just nap in the clubhouse.

Good for Farnsworth. I'd pay big money to see Farnsworth body slam Coger to the ground.

There are many reasons I detest Clemens. The special treatment he gets is one. If I were a teammate, I'd hate his guts simply because he's really not a team player. For the second straight year, he's pulled this BS of "I'm not gonna pitch til May." Dude, you knew you were going to pitch -- freaking get in shape so you don't have to cost your club millions while you train, cost the millions while you don't freaking play for 2 months, etc, etc.

The guy is a first ballot hall of famer and top 5 pitcher of all time. He's a top 5 douchebag as well.

This reminds me of the song(s) Talkin' Baseball

Willie, Mickey and the Duke

or if you prefer

Homer, Ozzie and the Straw

Now we're at:

(insert name), Rocket and the Farns

In rare defense of Roger, if the reports are to be believed, he maintains a vigorous physical training regimen during the offseason. You can work out as hard as you want, but there's no substitute for facing live hitters, even if it is just 60 pitches against a Class A team, and he can't face live hitters until he signs a contract with an organization. But yeah, the half-season schtick gets old, no doubt.

I don't get it. Didn't Clemens have this clause in his contract last year with the Astros? Why is this all of a sudden becoming a big deal now?
