Boston signs Michael Tucker

Atlanta releases Craig Wilson

Oakland releases Todd Walker

Wasn't Walker released a few days ago? Or did they just DFA him a few days ago.

Interesting that the Braves let Wilson go. Means they will probably go with 3 catchers on the Roster and possibly let Salt play at 1st. I say interesting b/c the teams has about 4 to 5 guys listed right now with D to D problems.

Also Jason Smith- an ex-Cubby farmhand got picked up off waivers by the Dbacks.

Has the Craig Wilson fanclub around here been put out of its misery yet?

If Murton was the everyday OF'er and one of Ward/Floyd had not been signed, it would be a move that I could see occur.

Right now, never.

Yeah, I could see that. But like you said, there is no place on this team right now as currently constructed.

I honestly thought he retired by now. Good to see he's still around, though I don't know if he's still productive.

And we can't find a taker for Jones?

It's not about someone being interested in taking him on, it's about taking him on at the current salary. Big diff. Tucker made nothing while Jones makes way more than he's worth. I said the day he was signed it was a dumb move & we paid too much. Same for DeRosa. Lilly may be in that category before all is said & done. It's time for Hendry to go. He does not know how to build a team. He does not understand OBP. He believes way too much in no field, power-hitting hacks & it shows.

what the team needs is grinders. We have Theriot. He should be written into the lineup card leading off playing second every day. Soriano should bat fifth w/ Murton second. It will never happen though.

You might have a point about Derosa. I'm not defending Jones, but his salary is not the big problem. As for Lilly, Hendry paid the going rate for a free agent starter during this offseason. The bottom line is that the overwhelming majority of players (not just Cubs) are paid more than they're worth.
