Really? Seem's to me that he's doing a good job with Marquis and the other starters. Well, minus Z.

Funny this is comnig up...I thought about this this morning....I think our starters are going so well its awful hard to blame this on Larry...Monday nights loss where we baically walk the bases loaded to get to Delgado who then walks is on Lou to me...I hate that move, no matter who's up...I think this is on the players, not the coaches.

rothschild may have "fixed" marquis, but he's about the only success story he's had. wouldn't bother me if he got canned.

The timing would bother me. I haven't been satisfied with the work he's done, but putting him on the hot seat now, or firing him now, tells me they aren't focused on the big issues.

Who knows if he's worked with Demp too...

Personally, I think Gerald Perry deserves more heat vs. Rothchild.

Why? Gerald Perry currently has us at 2nd in batting and, more importantly, 4th in OBP in the NL. This is a big improvement.

Yeah-while I think Perry has a little more work to do still, to take the offense from last year and have them above average in runs, 4th in OBP, and on pace to draw their most walks since 2002-there's nothing to fire somebody in their 2nd month on the job with.

Now-if he could just figure out how to increase the walk rate a little more, and get some of the home run hitters to hit a few more (Soriano/Lee/Jones especially are all well down on their home run totals) then this offense could really soar.

Larry has done a good job with the starters, especially Marquis & Hill. Maybe he just forgot about the bullpen.

Bullpens are always a crapshoot, always.

IMO, Larry hasn't done a good job with anyone during his tenure. Z didn't just wake up one day with bad mechanics. Its a progression of successive approximations to what we see today. Larry should have seen it a long time ago. Mazzoni talks about body language, Larry doesn't speak that language.

He's presided over the downfall of two of the most promising pitchers of this generation. He's been flat out terrible. Jason Marquis be damned. [/b]

Great in 2007:

Lilly, Marquis, Hill, Dempster

Horrible in 2007:

Zambrano, Eyre, Miller

Good in 2007:

Wuertz, Ohman (as a LOOGY)

On the mend in 2007:

Howry

I'm not quite sure what there is to complain about. Z sucks early in the year. That's not Rothschild. That's pure Carlos. Eyre just wasn't that great to begin with. Howry might be feeling the afteraffects of logging so many innings with too little rest. Miller sucks. I doubt any pitching coach could add 5 mph to his fastball.

Well I don't think we should fire any coaches right now, I'm just saying the pitching has been fantastic for the most part, while the hitting has been a big dissapointment.

You've got to be kidding. Jim Hendry should be the casualty of Lou's frustration, not Larry Rothschild.

No love for Lilly's hot start?

I think Rothschild has done a good job. As far as the problems Eyre and Howry are having, I blame that on their overuse last year. The carryover effect from Dusty overusing these guys last year is clearly evident. Word on the street (Steve Stone) is that Dusty didn't allow Rothschild to have much if any input last year on how guys were used, Lou has been the opposite and is allowing Larry to have a greater role in how guys are used.

Also, let me pose this question. If Larry is so bad, why was he so sought after by Leyland and Dombrowski in Detroit?

Bruce, being around the situation would you care to comment on my analysis?
