I think it's pretty safe to say that if we lose this series you can pretty much expect a free fall for the rest of the trip. Phillies aren't a very good team, and it just gets tougher with the Mets and the W.Sox at home.

exactly...

the one thing i was truly excited about before the season was the "swagger" talk from lou...

well...if this team is going to have a chance of doing what (on paper) they are capable of doing...then hopefully this fabled swagger comes bursting forth during this stretch...there is no better time to be a badass if you are the cubbies

Well, this is a great test. It's a shame we wasted all that great starting pitching the first 6 weeks of the season.

Garcia owns the Cubs...I am sick of just hovering around .500 why cant we atleast get 4 or 5 games above?? I don't even remememeber the last time we were 4 or more above..

Hovering around .500 > 2006 Cubs

Plus, we'll still be in the race if we stick to .500. That is, if the Brewers come back to Earth.

Well the Crew did promptly lose their first game against an actual baseball team in awhile. Hopefully it continues today. Brewers game just started, BTW.

I don't like this fact..Please do something today Cubs

"Garcia has won all four of his career starts over the Cubs, posting a 0.60 ERA in those games. He has allowed just two earned runs in 30 innings, holding Chicago to a .196 batting average."

I didn't realize how many Cub fans there are out of Illinois..That really has to suck that you can't watch your favorite team hardly ever..

Yes you can. I move farther away from Illinois it seems every year and I watch every game that Fox doesn't block out. Gotta buy the Extra Innings deal though.

Is Ryan Howard hurt?

Latest news from Rotoworld:

MRIs taken Friday showed no structural damage in Ryan Howard's sore knee but did reveal bruising in his quad.

Howard missed a fourth straight start, but he was available to pinch-hit. Manager Charlie Manuel said he didn't expect Howard to be in Saturday's lineup.

Theriot had started 6 in a row before this one-the only other Cubs to do that during that stretch have been Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez. This is probably a good day to give him one off.

I've got my Delphi MyFi XM radio... but it doesn't get good reception inside. And I don't have any other thing I could use...

I'll get to watch about half an hour, though.

Yeah, I think it's a good idea to sit just about every player once every seven days to keep them healthy and fresh for the later parts of the season. You don't want everyone exhausted in September and God willing, beyond.
