oooooohhhhhhhhhhh he played good last year.....let's keep on playing him then, he played great last year! who cares if he is absolutely turd in the OF and can't hit past the infield. Let's play him everyday! The Red Sox dumped him because he is a light-hitting OF who can't play anything else besides LF. Ask any Red Sox scout.

Hey, guess what player ranked immediately behind Murton in GB/FB ratio last year in all the NL?

Jacque Jones. I guess he becomes a light hitting OF too... since your only qualification for that seems to be that he "can't hit past the infield."

And his arm is too inaccurate to be a RF and his range is too poor to be a CF. That pretty much means he can't play anything else besides LF. Just ask any Twins scout.

This argument would play a lot better if Jacque didn't hit around 25 HR a year, and play RF almost exclusively his last two years in Minnesota.

Every scout says that if Murton decides to add some loft to his swing he's gonna be good for 30 dingers a year.

And I don't think anybody here would argue Murton is a RF just because that's where he's gonna play with Soriano in left for the next 8 years. Playing RF doesn't necessarily make you a legitimate RF... Jacque's arm was just better than Shannon Stewart's...

Figures. The most destructive coaching tenure in sports history happens to the Cubs. Has any manager been responsible for destroying 3 potential Hall of Famers before? And is this justification for every one of us to get a free punch at Dusty?

3 good pitchers. I definitely wouldn't call any of them HOF pitchers.

Why does everyone think Z is hurt? Why can't we just admit that he sucks at the beginning of the year, like last year, and he doesn't seem to be able to figure out what he needs to do to pitch better? He's a headcase and he always has been, I don't think injuries have anything to do with it.

I know this is hard to believe but sometimes its not an injury, its just general suckiness. Lack of effort? Lazy mechanics? A general unwillingness to listen to coaches? All of these can be factors in general suckiness. Usually the way to remedy this general suckiness is to send the player to the minors or trade him. He's not figuring it out and he's had ample time to do so.

Did I say anything about Jacque Jones dickwad? Jones at least has some HR power and is better defensively in RF. He can actually get to the balls and catch them. yea, his arm Sox. If it was up to me, I'd get another RF. But Murton isn't the answer.

Yes, you did; The uncalled for slavery comments.

Call them three very good number 1 pitchers.

I agree that he's a headcase. But his stuff has just not been as effective as it usually is. Unless he aged 10 years in the offseason, there's no reason why he should be getting rocked by the likes of the Nationals and the Pirates. All of his pitches are ending up belt-high and crushable for every hitter he faces.

When he's at his best, his 2-seamer is working and his slider is flat out filthy. I have yet to see any of that this year.

I think Wood and Prior definitely had HOF potential. I don't think Zambrano was ever that good.

18 wins, 2.40 ERA in his first big league season?

20 Ks in his 5th big league start?

4 successive seasons with sub-3.50 ERAs by age 26?

I wouldn't say any of them were sure-fire, but they all had the potential.

Other than the fact that he's been sucking it up so far, what makes everyone think Z is hurt? Arm angle, laboring...?

Just look at his stats.

Stats are more a product of his bad pitching and could be attributed to other things. I was looking for a more concrete possibility, but thanks.

I'll agree with Wood and Prior on potential. But even if they were healthy, they sure weren't locks.
