There is a reason the Red Sox dumped him in the trade. If Jones had dropped the fly ball, everybody here and their mama would be lynching Jacque Jones like it was the era of slavery.

I just took your Cubs fan card. You have to root for another team now.

I hear the White Sox just give theirs away.

Later.

What it's true.....If Jacque Jones did what Murton just did, I don't think Jacque would make it out of Wrigley alive.

He seemed to make it out OK last night.

If Murton is so limited that he can't play both corner positions, he really is a AAAA player.

No, not really.

He's having to learn the position on the fly, he will make mistakes.

I don't see how he's learning on the fly? If you're an OF and have played the game for any length of time you have seen flyballs coming at every position from just about every angle. He's probably caught hundreds of those type of flyballs in his lifetime. He just screwed up and dropped a ball that he should have caught.

I didn't see the play but it sounds like a bad drop.

But you're wrong if you think any OF has seen flyballs coming at every position from just about every angle. A flyball in RF looks different than one in LF. There is definitely an adjustment. It's just a shame they spent all of spring training with Jacque in right, Soriano in center and Murton/Floyd in left, and then decided 3 weeks in to completely flip flop everybody.

Open-ended contract situation's gotta be on his mind. Granted he's always been a slow starter, but this is getting ridiculous.

if that's true, he really IS the mental midget that some say he is

Murton got booed and is getting slammed on the board as well.

I don't see how Jacque would be treated any differently.

Way to totally miss the point

Every OF regularly takes balls at every single OF position in practice.

Trust me if Murton contiunes to suck the fans aren't going to be friendly.

No no, Cubs fans are racist and will only boo Jones for shoddy play.

(Ignoring that Murton was booed after he dropped the flyball.)

Leaving aside the rest of your ignornace, are you really trying to say this game brings to light why the Red Sox dumped him?

Wow, that's just plain stupid. That's more stupid than truffle trying to pretend Murton didn't have a great approach last year.

oooooohhhhhhhhhhh he played good last year.....let's keep on playing him then, he played great last year! who cares if he is absolutely turd in the OF and can't hit past the infield. Let's play him everyday! The Red Sox dumped him because he is a light-hitting OF who can't play anything else besides LF. Ask any Red Sox scout.

I'm talking about the first inning double. The route he took was like a player who isn't used to the position.

The error was just bad.

My bad. But the point still stands. If he was a career IF that had just made the switch to OF the excuse would be a little more plausible but OF take so many flyballs and play all over during their career with a few exceptions. I doubt Chris Duncan has ever played CF.
