i was able to check in a computer lab and saw that the cobs pulled out the W earlier great to see they're winning now. And Soriano got his 2nd homer.

 

I wonder if they try and stretch this to a complete game for Marquis?

The George Brett pine tar incident was the height of stupidity.

 

Pine tar doesn't make the ball go further. It was (is?) a stupid rule instituted decades ago because one owner was so cheap that he didn't like to have to bring a new baseball into the game when one had to be discarded because it got too much pine tar on it.

It may be time to start giving some credit to Hendry for signing the soon to be 6-3 Lilly/Marquis combo, huh? Both have sub 3.00 ERAs and Lilly is 3rd in the NL in strikeouts.

cubs runs - first inning - theirot and lee back to back doubles

third inning - soriano solo hr

fifth inning - crazy inning, no hits but 4 walks, 1 HBP and 1 WP

I know it's only May 2 but when the Cubs signed Marquis, all I could see were moonshots ... not 1-2-3 innings with Maddux-like efficiency. Baseball is a funny sport.
