Joe Morgan applauds the organization for honoring such an incredibly talented and successful major leaguer.

Hey. His career OPS+ was almost 90. Don't hate.

To honor this, I think I should post one of my favorites from FireJoeMorgan.

Andrew (WI): Hey Joe. Do you think Omar Vizquel should get elected to the Hall of Fame. Some say he was as good as Ozzie Smith in the field and better at the plate. Thanks.

KT: Dave Concepcion.

Joe Morgan: I think he has an excellent chance when you talk about how long he's played how well he's played.

KT: Dave Concepcion.

If you rate the position the way you're supposed to, shortstop is a defensive position and anything offensive is extra.

KT: Dave Concepcion.

But for a while there you had A-Rod hitting 50 home runs, Miguel Tejada driving in 150 runs. Nomar. That was the norm for shortstops for a while.

KT: Dave Concepcion.

But using the defensive criteria, I think he has a shot.

KT: Dave Concepcion.

But I think Davey Concepcion who played with me and had a lot of Gold Gloves should be in the Hall as well.

KT: There it is.

yeah, wasn't there a vote recently on who was the greatest latino shorstop? the choices were aparicio, concepcion, and vizquel.

i'll take other, please.

just goes to show how little the "chaw-spittin'" baseball insiders know about how the game actually works.

I have never seen him play, so I dont know how good his defense really was, but his career line is only slightly better the Royce Clayton's. How is he not in the HOF????

The Big Red Machine was my favorite none Cubs team in the 70s. I still have a place for them in my heart. Dave Concepcion would get absolutely no HoF consideration if he played for the Cubs during the same period. Playing on championship clubs gives you some extra consideration.

Dave Concepcion was a above average SS in the 70s.

he has no latino spark and passion, he has american laziness and selfishness. he doesn't count.

When my dad came to America in the late 60s, he grew to love watching the Reds, especially Concepcion. When he decided to change his name to an American one in the early 70s, he chose David because of him. I'm sure he'll be thrilled, hahaha.

He's also not a true Yankee and he betrayed his latino brethren by playing for a country he grew up in and is 50% from. He's also been forced from his best position by an inferior (although very good) player.

Hey ARod, the Cubs have an opening at short...

We had to deal with Sparky's crowd back in '04. Seems the Reds like the cushion of a strong Cubs presence to avoid poor turnout for these events.

Can't say that I blame them. Sometimes it seems like Reds fans are allergic to the ballpark.

somewhere joe morgan is smiling... this makes me sad

Every time Joe Morgan smiles, a child cries.

And a gritty player gets a hit based on hustle and moxy.
