Rick Gosselin is on the radio right now and he's saying that Mason Crosby was probably the worst kicker at the combine, and that he really struggled with both distance and accuracy. He also said that Folk was the most impressive K at the combine.

too bad for crosby... one day at the combine trumps four years of college football

He's got a strong leg, but his accuracy was pretty bad in college too. He was only 11/20 outside of 50 yards.

seems to me that's not that bad... Jason Hanson, kicking in a dome for more than half his games, is 30/63 in his career outside of 50 yards.

Jason Elam is 36/59

Vinatieri 8/18

Josh Brown 10/17

Ryan Longwell 13/24

John Kasay 33/65

So I really don't 11/20 is bad outside 50 yards, especially after going 17/19 from inside 50 the most recent year.

That's my bad, the stats I lifted were actually for Nick Folk. Apparently his accuracy was pretty bad. From what I'm hearing though the thing that Crosby really struggled with was his kickoffs, to the point that scouts were thinking any team that took him would need to have a kickoff specialist. That's kind of surprising if true.

EDIT: I also did a poor job of remembering the stats...Folk was 11/27 from outside of 40 yards.

I like Beekman and Graham, wish CM hadn't jinxed us out of Doug Free though.

Don't know a thing about the UL-M defensive back.

From NFLDraftCountdown.com:

Strengths:

Has very good size and terrific bulk...Excellent natural athlete who is more quick than fast...Does a very nice job versus the run...Good hands and ball skills...Still improving and has a lot of upside...Top intangibles...Has special teams potential.

Weaknesses:

Still very raw...Needs to work on his technique and the fundamentals...Is not a great tackler...Does not have elite speed and plays slow because he isn't very instinctive...Does not recover well from mistakes...Really struggles in coverage.

Notes:

Played running back for the first half of his career and he only made the move to defense in 2005...More of an in-the-box type...Might only project to be a backup and special teamer at the next level...A project and long-term developmental guy.

Doesn't impress me at all.

Titans got a real sleeper pick in Joel Filani out of Texas Tech.

Know anything about him?

6'2" 210lbs and runs about a 4.5 40. He's got very good hands, he finds the ball well and will win the jump ball almost every time. He is probably a #3/4 guy, but in the red zone he is deadly.

Not sure about the two LB's before we took Crosby, but I am VERY happy that we got Crosby in the 6th round.

Great pickup and he should be able to win the starting job over the erratic Dave Raynor.

The Dolphins just picked ANOTHER Hawaiian. That's two Hawaiians and a Samoan in the last four picks. Clearly Cam Cameron knows what wins football games in the NFL.

I'm praying something is wrong with the profile, though. They have him listed as a 6'0", 348 lb fullback. Say wha?

All in all I am pretty happy with the Rams draft so far. I am a big fan of Carriker and think that he will be very good. I am not a big fan of the Leonard pick but it does give them another weapon on offense. After they they added some much needed depth at both the offensive and defensive line. I would have liked another linebacker but I am still happy with what they have done.

Finally! A pick I like. Filani sounds completely different than the receivers we already have (what a thought, drafting something you don't already have) and seems to have some nice skills. Hope things continue to pick up for us.
