You dont get it you know that. My point is Theriot is entirely batting average driven even compared to Cedeno and Izturis. Once his BABIP falls, and it will fall, he's pretty much the same as them. In fact for as "well" as he's hit so far, he's been CONSIDERABLY below average for a shortstop.

wow, cubs won 3 in a row. They have a shot at a sweep and a 4th victory in a row and we get to throw our best pitcher out there. awesome.

I'm not sure what happened 2 days ago. But since the Cubs win, you keep theriot in. Yes I'm superstitious. But so are players.

Theriot had a very high BABIP last season too. Not saying that he will sustain a .360 BABIP, but he runs well and maybe he's quick out of the box. He also seems to hit have more hard-hit balls than Cedeno and Izturis. So maybe he's the type of player who can have a fairly high BABIP on a consistent basis, whereas Izturis has had a below-average BABIP for 5 of the last 6 years, and Cedeno was league-average last year (which is an indicator of just how bad he was - he wasn't even unlucky).

 

And FWIW, I think Theriot will start walking more, since he has always shown the ability to walk in the big leagues. He's probably getting a lot of pitches to hit being at the top of the lineup, in front of hot hitters like Lee and ARam.

I'm not into the numbers like a lot of people (not saying this is a bad thing). I'm more about what I see a guy do on the field. The more I see Theriot hit the ball over the first baseman's head and into right field the more I'm willing to forgive his defensive mistakes at short.

 

You have to remember this is his first full year in the bigs. He will, most likely, improve at the plate and in the field with more playing time. I know Izturis is good in the field, but his stick is bad, and that isn't going to change. Theriot may never have the glove that Izzy has, I think his bat will more than make up for it.

 

I have always loved to watch Ryan Freel play, now we have our own Ryan Freel. (only better, Riot plays for the right team)

 

Keep TheRiot in the line-up Lou, and at short.

 

 

Now c'mon Rich and show the rest of the country what Cubs fans already know.

I just wish he'd keep Riot in there so we could have a consistent line up...if Izturis is playing he's surely hitting 8th...which I'd guess moves Derosa around.....I just would like to see for a 2 week stretch our absolute best line up out there every night and see what happens.
