Thanks a ton for the link. Fun to get some feedback on those guys.

When the farm was hot, it was the International guys who elevated it: Z, Cruz, Guzman, Beltran, Pie, Choi, Sanchez. Haven't been many good Latin guys hitting the states in the last 4-5 years.

But now it looks like we've got some action again. Ceda by trade, obviously, but Castillo and Dolis at Peoria emerging as value guys.

Robert Hernandez, Cabrera, and Acosta provide three significant, promising 18-year-old pitchers in short-season. One other guy I'm interested in is 3B Marwin Gonzalez, who played regularly at Mesa last and struggled but I think may look better this year with another year.

those are the ones I know about. There could be others. (Harold Tolentino? Mario Mercedes? Martinez who AzPhil mentioned?)

Would be awesome if some of these guys emerged as genuine value prospects.

I'm really excited about Robert Hernandez...hard thrower, good control...and just 18-years old. Hopefully he's at Boise and not Mesa.

It's good to see that Cabrera and Acosta - who had good stats in the DSL - have good stuff to back it up.

Can someone post updates on how Gooz is doing?

I'm sure someone will, plus you can follow the game on MiLB's Gamecast. The game isn't for another 6 hours though.

I'm off to see Gooz pitch!

Bold prediction: Gooz has a quality start with no offensive support and ends up getting a ND.

That's the Chicago Cubs, not the Iowa Cubs.

Hello again, from what I have been led to believe Sean will start tonight for the Smokies and only throw the 1st inning. If all goes well then he will make his start on mon. I would assume Mr Hart will finish the rest of the game....

Mick had Pat Listach on the pre-game show. Listach indicated Sean would throw @ 30-35 pitches and, as you said, if all goes well would start on Monday.

Gallagher allows 2 runs in the top of the 1st and a HR to the first batter in the 2nd.

The first was an odd inning. The WP went through Jake Fox's legs and caromed off the backstop - he was able to recover it quickly, but his throw to home was off-kilter. The next batter hit a slow roller to Spearman at 2B, who threw home but wasn't able to get the runner.

Log:

* Dante Brinkley singles on a ground ball to center fielder Sam Fuld.

* Kevin Randel singles on a line drive to right fielder Josh Kroeger. Dante Brinkley to 2nd.

* Chase Lambin grounds out to first baseman Brian Dopirak. Dante Brinkley to 3rd. Kevin Randel to 2nd.

* With Lee Mitchell batting, wild pitch by Sean Gallagher, Dante Brinkley scores. Kevin Randel to 3rd.

* Lee Mitchell reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by second baseman Jemel Spearman. Kevin Randel scores.

* Ryan Bear flies out to center fielder Sam Fuld.

* Brett Carroll strikes out swinging.

After the HR in the 2nd, Fuld makes a nice catch in CF (sounds like the field might be damp/slick from earlier rain) and Gallagher gets two Ks to retire the side.

Final Line:

Gallagher:

2 IPs, 30 pitches, 3H, 3R/3ER, 3Ks/0BB, 1HR, 4.19 ERA

Ugh. Rough 3rd inning for me.

* Brad McCann singles on a ground ball to left fielder Alberto Garcia.

* With Jonathan Fulton batting, wild pitch by Scott Taylor, Brad McCann to 2nd.

* Jonathan Fulton strikes out swinging.

* Kris Harvey triples (1) on a line drive to center fielder Tyler Colvin. Brad McCann scores.

* Colin Roberson doubles (2) on a fly ball to left fielder Alberto Garcia. Kris Harvey scores.

* Steve Gendron pops out to first baseman Ryan Norwood.

* Lorenzo Scott Jr. singles on a ground ball to center fielder Tyler Colvin. Colin Roberson scores.

* With Agustin Septimo batting, Lorenzo Scott Jr. caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Jake Muyco to shortstop Matt Matulia.

Guzman is done-he left with 2 runners on, so his line isn't complete yet.

He threw 76 and was pulled in the middle of an inning after a strikeout, so my guess is that he was on a 75 pitch limit.

What's the pitch count on Tuesday-85-90 maybe? The team really needs to try to protect the bullpen for that day, as I can't see Guzman really making it past 5 innings with that strict a pitch count, and the game the next day will start 13-14 hours after that game ends. This was definitely a much better outing for him though.

Daytona loses 6-4. Colvin was 2/5 with an RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored. Nate Spears was 4/5. Matulia was 2/5 with a double and two runs scored. Three of the Daytona runs came against Nolasco and Mitre.

Tennessee down 7-2 in the 8th.

Peoria now down 10-3 in the 6th. Pina had a bad outing tonight: 3 and 2/3s, 8 hits, 7 runs, 5 earned, 0 K's/3 BB's, 1 HR allowed.

Iowa up 5-2 in the 6th.

And for the second day in a row, the Smokies are getting blown out. Now down 13-3 in the 9th. Hart's final line: 5 and 1/3, 9 hits, 5 runs, 8 K's/3 BB's, 3 HR's allowed. Reinhard gave up 5 more in just 2/3's of an inning, including two more long balls.

Peoria down 10-3 in the bottom of the 7th.

Webb gives up a run in the 6th. Now a 5-3 Iowa lead as Memphis is still batting. Pignatiello now into the game.
