Any word on today's pathetic excuse for a line up?

Soriano LF

Theriot SS

Lee 1B

Ramirez 3B

Barrett C

Murton RF

Pie CF

DeRosa 2B

Lilly

(odds of this happening...100-1)

Dang you....I saw this and thought it was the actual line-up. For about 3 seconds I thought Lou finally did something good.

hey....if the post above is true and Theriot is playing at SS I think we're moving in the right direction...

How did this take a life of its own? The above lineup is NOT the official lineup. Is it?

Theriot at SS and leading off was reported to have been heard on the radio a little while ago. The rest of the lineup is not known. I wouldn't take this as a permanent thing yet (today it's just because Soriano is likely not playing), but if they are willing to try Theriot there they may be willing to play him there more often.

Lou said that yesterday's lineup would be the one he would stick with for a few days-I think you'll be disappointed.

I'll give them credit...yesterday they did get an awful lot of hits...its hard to get that many hits and have so little to show for it.

Not really. They only had two walks.

This team's problem is walks, they walk too many and don't walk enough.

They had 9 hits in 33 AB, that's a .273 AVG which is actually pretty good for a team AVG. They had a .314 OBP last night, which is very bad for a team OBP. That pretty much sums up the Cubs, and is why they "seem" to score fewer runs than they "should". Throw in another runner stupidly getting picked/doubled off and it gets that much harder to score with so few baserunners.

Theriot at SS, regardless of what goes on with any other position shifts today, would be all indication I need to see that Lou is really catching on with the SS situation.

No, it's a guess.

Soriano is not starting today. Theriot is leading off and playing SS. Piniella hinted today that Theriot may play SS more often... He also said in the pregame that outside of today, Theriot will be second in the lineup from now on (when he plays that is).

By the way...

Colorado 8 13
Chicago Cubs 7 13
Kansas City 6 14
Washington 6 14

What was the name of the standings we posted last year in the race for the #1 pick?

Fecal League Standings.

if it makes anyone else feel better, the Yankees just got swept into last place in the AL East....

No its NOT...I was just hypoticating about what i'd like to see...then someone else said that Theriot is actually starting at SS today...then someone ELSE said they thought my lineup was real for 3 seconds and were happy...then I responded to that person that "if" the post above was true, Theriot was playing SS so it was a step in the right direction....

LOL-you added that little edit right before I got in asking what position Theriot would be playing batting second all these days. I already assumed he'd bat 2nd whenever him and Soriano played together anyway. It's nice to hear that he is considering Theriot at SS more often-even 30 or 40 games there would help.

You pretty much just summarized the last five years in four sentences.

Well, I was just highlighting the baserunning error. GIDPs happen. Getting picked off 2nd when there's a soft liner almost right at the 2B should not happen. Others days it's oversliding a bag, or getting caught stealing in a dumb situation, or pulling a Jacque2006/Soriano2007. For a team with so few baserunners, they have too many of them getting themselves out.

Murton needs to learn to contribute on special teams. Maybe he can start making tackles on kickoffs or be a long snapper.

Oh, I understand. I just like to take every opportunity to point out how horridly Izturis sucks.

right-handed pitcher. From what has been said, normally Soriano and Pie would be in there and Jones would get the start and not Floyd. Today, they get a chance to both be together. When Jones/Murton/Floyd share one OF spot, it will likely be Jones against right-handers and Murton against left-handers, with the only chance for Floyd to start is days like this where Soriano or Pie sit. That's what I was saying before-and btw, I'm not in complete agreement with it-I want Floyd to get some starts, but I want Murton to play more than he has.

Posted

Don't worry guys, Murton will get his starts. Floyd won't be playing anymore.

Petition to ban rolley eyes so I don't use one here.

I'm starting to hate you, Lou.

We should just trade Murton.

As much as I like Murton and want me to succeed as a Cub, it looks like thats never going to happen. Trading him would be best for all involved. The Cubs could continue forcing themselves the suck and Murton could go on to be a very good player for a decent franchise.
