Calling for rain today through Wednesday an hour west of Nashville. Not sure if it will affect any games, but there's a shot.

Marmol and O'Malley are also off to equally impressive starts. We have a lot of options that are better than Miller that are in Iowa right now.

I think Walrond is a AAAA pitcher that is able to put up some good AAA numbers; I don't even think he's on the 40-man roster. I think Marmol or Guzman (if he rebounds from his Saturday outing) are the most likely candidates to replace Miller next time a fifth starter is needed.

Mitch Atkins is quietly repeating his great 2006 numbers. RECOGNIZE!

You're learning.... :)

14/4 K:BB rate, but has given up 2 HRs for his 3 ERs. He has allowed 21 FB outs of his other 34 retired, though 11 them came on opening day.

Per Laura, Gallagher has been put on hold. It sounds like they're giving him a week of rest. Whatever is going on, it doesn't sound serious.

Let's all take a deep breath. :?

Hello to all, I was on the phone with Sean last night and today and this is just a precaution. Wish there was more I could say but he will make his next scheduled start. Sean is a fierce competitor and it is killing him that he has to skip a start....... :(

Hopefully it is just a precaution.

Walrond has given up 3 runs in 2 innings. Iowa trails 3-0 in the 3rd.

Schappert was roughed up for 4 runs in the 2nd and Tennessee trails 4-0 in the bottom of the 2nd.

Atkins just gave up a run in the 3rd. Daytona down 1-0 in the bottom half of the 3rd.

Renshaw pitched a scoreless first. No score after a half inning of play.

Peoria: RHP Jose Pina (0-1, 1.86 ERA, 9.2 IP)

Renshaw today, not Pina. Pina Tuesday. Last Thursday's DH screwed us up! Back on track after the Wed off day with Dolis & Ceda....

Thanks, Nate. How bad is the injury with Muldowney? I'm glad Renshaw will take his place in the rotation, I was a fan of his after reading up on him after last year's draft.

Bad news about Gallagher - glad to hear it's only precautionary. He's been such a horse the past few seasons though.

Walrond gives up a solo shot in the 3rd. 6 hits, 4 ERs, 1 K/0 BBs in 3 innings of work. Ouch. Iowa's hitters aren't doing any better as they don't have a hit through 3.

Tennessee lost 8-5. Schappert was roughed up for 7 hits and 6 runs in 4 and a third. Reinhard and Layden both allowed a run in their work as well. Tennessee did pound out 15 hits including a perfect 5/5 night from Jorge Cortes. Fox was 4/5 with an RBI and a run scored. Fuld was 3/4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Ok so Fotenot didnt hit of well. BUT he was at SS for the 2nd straight day.

Does anyone really think that Fontenot is that much better than Izturis and or Cedeno? It sure doesn't seem like the Cubs do. They could have brought up Fontenot on many occasions and didn't. In fact they moved in the opposite direction by removing him from the 40 man roster.

In order to promote him they'd have to drop someone else from the 40 man roster. Perhaps they are anticipating moving Prior to the 60 day DL.

It seems to me that the best we could hope for is Fontenot replaces Cedeno on the 25 man roster and he splits time with Izturis. That to me seems more like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

The Cubs don't, but this is the same organization who had Wuertz down in Iowa for nearly half a season last year.

I like Fontenot and think he is a better option than Cedeno and Izturis. And I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who believes this.
