I think we need to pull a Memento on Matt Murton and make him forget everything he ever learned from Dusty Baker. This is getting out of hand.

Iowa is calling Matt.

 

Do people realize that Matt is hitting nearly .300 right now? He's above league average.

 

He's hitting .231.

 

I could be wrong, but I believe it was .289 before today.

 

EDIT: I was wrong....it was .286

Yeah, maybe his OBP is around .300.

 

i believe murton was hitting .240 before that last out

 

And .286 heading into the game. Big swings in AVG when we're talking such a small sample size. He's not playing well now, granted, but it's been 2 weeks with very limited and sporadic ABs.

When did Murton become the whipping boy on this board? He is slumping, just like a ton of other guys on the offense. Soriano, Jones, Izturis, Cedeno, and Barrett have been almost as bad if not worse. I have not been around much latley, but this seems like the last place that would turn on Murton after 30 or so at bats.

He's hardly the whipping boy. Actually, I always get the feeling of fighting the crowd when I advocate Floyd starting over him.
