What kind of pitch was that, a straightball?

 

That was an 87mph, straight-as-an-arrow, fastball that was on the inner half of the plate and belt-high.

Well yeah, I'm not trying to say it's as good as the real thing. But choosing between 16" with no gloves and playing 12" with gloves I'll take the chance to play actual defense, as well as being able to hit the ball some distance(I'm not a power hitter so I can't fall in love with the long ball).

 

I see what you mean, but on the same token, you still play defense, though it's less similar to the real thing than 12". I think there's something about fielding with your bare hands, catching fly balls with your stomach Willy Mays-style. To each his own, I suppose.
