One game is already underway in Boston, but do you think the remaining night games should be suspened today?

I do.

For what, the shootings at VA tech?

No, I don't think they should.

Keep the games going and have a moment of silence for the victims.

That's the plan I would endorse as well. If we start cancelling events around the country and somebody sees that they can shut down parts of the nation with attacks like these, then I'm worried that they will increase. Keep on going, but pay tribute and recognize the great loss today.

I am not calling for games to be called, but as an educator I am certainly not concern about the Cubs anymore. No one in their right minds would want to care about baseball when a event like this has occurred.

Just my opinion......

21 people have been killed, I certainly do not care about baseball today. That the least of our worries.

I don't mean to be insensitive or anything, and I know several people that go to VT, but there are about 89 firearm deaths on the average day. This is a horrible tragedy, but there are tragedies everyday. You can't cancel events for every tragedy especially when there's no connection between the tragedy and the event.

Sounds prefectly suitable.

I think this is crossing the line. Worse tragedies occur in the world everyday, so I guess nobody in their right mind could ever care about baseball.

I care about today's game. I want this one just as badly as I wanted yesterday. I will cheer with the same fervor.

The only thing canceling the games would do is heap more attention on the situation, which only emboldens potential copycat offenders who may be doing this kind of crap for attention.

Exactly. There's no way the games should be cancelled tonight. This guy who did it is already going to be idolized by kids who are thinking about doing the same thing. Better to not give him more media attention than it's already getting.

IMO, it lends more legitimacy to the attacker if you let his/her actions cause the cancelation of unrelated events. Other wackos then look at it and go "see how much additional havoc I can cause?"

Don't let them have that power. Play the games.

21 people I don't know died today in a sad way.

Sorry, it's a little sad, but that's about it. I bet thousands of people I didn't know died today, many of them in sad ways.

But these people were young and American (likely mostly white and somewhat affluent as well, to be going to college). So it is a tragedy of epic proportions.

Play ball.

Well, VanceJergins I guess you have life figured out....... The worst school shooting in US history and I am crossing the line, I apologies.

Telling people they aren't in their right minds if they care about baseball is crossing the line. Has there ever been a day when you cared about baseball? Well guess what, there was a horrible tragedy somewhere in the world on that day, so you must be sick.

I agree it's a tragedy, but I still care about baseball today. And I'm quite certain I'm in my right mind. I understand if you have strong feelings about this, but I don't think it means everyone has to share your feelings.

I cant believe im saying this because I was the one who said we should play through 9/11 because "keeping our life uneffected, strikes a blow to jerks who did it", but I wouldnt mind if they postponed all the games. This is so damn terrible, and honoring the kids that died, and showing national solidarity is a great thing. Maybe im just getting older.
