oh gee, the devils played another low-scoring snoozefest? didn't see that coming.

2-1 leads for the sabres and sens... hope they can both finish off the rags and debbies. Then I can go back to rooting against that prick Lindy Ruff.

Sharks with a huge win tonight to take a 2-1 series lead on Detroit.

Just like game 2 except reversed. San Jose was kind of lucky to only be down 1. About midway through the 2nd period it seemed like Joe Thorton was on the ice the rest of the game. He is the best player in hockey when he plays like that. San Jose dominated the rest of the game. Detroit was lucky to only give up 2 goals.

booo that was an elbow on rob niedermayer booooo

poor luongo.

I agree but Luongo should be playing goalie and let the refs do the reffing. Was a crappy goal.

And just like the Sharks a couple days ago, the NY Rangers allow the game tying goal when the other team has pulled their goalie then fall in overtime. Buffalo scored with about 7 seconds left to tie the game and then 4:39 into overtime.

In both cases the better team won the game though.

The made for regular season coasting Wings go up 3-2 over a clearly more talented gritty playoff ready San Jose team.

Couldn't help but notice all the empty seats in DET. That can't be good news for the NHL. 2nd round playoffs and only maybe 70% seats full in a charter city? Ouch.

Sadly "the Joe" has a lot of seats sold to corporate interests. These tickets have always been a little thin on Sat day games. Also the concession lines at the Joe are brutal.

Truthfully though I think there is a little Atlanta Braves syndrome in Wings fans.

i think it's more that the tickets are way overpriced and detroit currently has a crappy economy. or that's what wings fans tell me.

I went back and looked around at about the 10 minute mark of the 3rd period and there wasnt hardly any empty seats. I think it was more like 95%. With a 3 goal lead at the time that would explain some of the empties.

Also all of there games are sold out. Have been since the early 90s. So that kind or negates the overpriced ticket crappy economy arguement

rangers gone, devils gone... it's a great weekend for hockey

Definitely a great weekend for Philly hockey fans.

I like a Buffalo/Ottawa final, and Detroit/Anaheim could be pretty sweet out west. As a Blackhawks fan I shouldn't want Detroit to advance, but with the organization slipping so far from relevency, it's kind of pointless to hold a grudge against the supposed rival Red Wings. I'm all about pulling for hockey in general, and I think the Wings are more interesting, and better for the NHL, than an all California Suburbs Western Conference Final.

As a Wings fan I am very disappointed that Chicago has become irrelevant. Especially now that Colorado and St Louis have also fallen off. Nashville is just not that great of a rival.

The Ottawa/Buffalo series should be awesome. 2 best teams our East. They dont like each other. Both play up and down the ice a lot, though Ottawa has tightened it up the last couple of years.
