I think he somehow found out about Raisin taunting him.

I better start taunting the Don, then. :)

Raisin is going to be the AJP of NSBB!

I think I said he was 18 from an old scout article at the time but never had a DOB. I could be mistaken. Either way the scarcity of information surrounding him should be removed this year. All we know right now is that he's big and has a big fastball and knows how to miss bats.

For the record, I have to taunt more politely than AJP:

Rafael Dolis only had 1 K in the first inning.

IowaCubs.com"]Scott Moore's two-RBI single capped a four-run seventh inning as visiting Iowa rallied past Albuquerque, 9-4, on Monday night.

Eric Patterson snapped a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring double to knock reliever Eddy Rodriguez (0-1) out of the game. Koyie Hill drew a bases-loaded walk from Ben Julianel before Moore delivered a base hit to right field to make it 7-3.

Hill and Moore drove in three runs apiece and Patterson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Pie was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, boosting his average to .500.

Iowa starter Carlos Marmol gave up two runs on three hits in four innings, striking out six and walking two. John Webb (1-0) picked up the win in relief after yielding a run on three hits and a walk with one strikeout in two frames.

Scott Seabol, Val Pascucci and John Gall each drove in a run for the Isotopes (3-2). Albuquerque's Chris Ashby and John Baker had two hits apiece.

SmokiesBaseball.com"]Jacksonville, Fla. – Suns starter Mike Megrew and reliever Jon Meloan pitched shutout baseball while Xavier Paul connected for a game-ending RBI single as the Jacksonville Suns took the final game of the opening series with the Tennessee Smokies by the final score of 1-0.

The Suns improved to 3-2 while the Smokies fell to 2-3 in the early Southern League season.

The starting pitchers were the stars in the opening stages Monday as Suns starter Mike Megrew did not allow a base runner until the fifth and faced the minimum through five innings. Megrew finished seven shutout innings with only three hits and five strikeouts without a walk. On the other side, Tennessee’s Mark Holliman pitched a solid six shutout innings while walking one and striking out seven.

Suns reliever Jon Meloan came on in the eighth inning and allowed a two out double, but retired the next batter and the three he faced in the ninth inning to keep it scoreless heading to the bottom of the ninth inning.

Jacksonville catcher A.J. Ellis led off the ninth against Tennessee reliever Tim Layden with a walk and moved to second base on a sacrifice from Anthony Raglani. After John Lindsey was intentionally walked Luis Maza flied out for the second out of the inning, allowing Ellis to advance to third base.

Xavier Paul then singled back through the pitcher’s legs to drive home Ellis and give the Suns a 1-0 victory. The RBI was Paul’s first in the Double-A level.

Jon Meloan (1-0) picked up the relief win for Jacksonville while Tim Layden (0-1) picked up the loss.

DaytonaCubs.com"]The excitement was building in the bottom of the ninth as the crowd of 1,863 braved the rain on Belly Buster Monday to see if the Cubs could regain the lead they had the entire game against the Brevard County Manatees.

In the first inning the Cubs scored three runs. Chris Amador led off with a double (2) and advanced to third on a Nate Spears sacrifice bunt. Amador scored on a base hit by Kyle Reynolds. Reynolds stole second just before Ryan Norwood’s walk, followed by Alan Rick getting hit by a pitch from right-handed pitcher, Jesse Harper, to load the bases. Jesus Valdez singled to drive in two runs as the Cubs started off the game 3-0.

Freddy Parejo scored the first run for the Manatees on a wild pitch by right-hander Scott Taylor during the third inning. The Manatees second run also came by Parejo in the top of the fifth, on a solo shot to left field.

As the rain began to fall, the Cubs committed their first two errors of the game in the top of the ninth. A fielding error by Reynolds put the lead off batter, Charlie Farmaint, on base. He advanced on a put out by Cubs first baseman Norwood. Farmaint scored the tying run on a ground ball off the bat of pinch hitter Carlos Corporan, who then advanced to second on the throw home. Corporan scored the go ahead run on a sacrifice fly from Alcides Escobar.

The Cubs tried to battle back in the bottom of the inning when Jesus Valdez walked to lead off the inning. Tyler Colvin came in to pinch-run after a few days off. Jim Adduci moved Colvin to second on a sacrifice bunt, trailed by Matt Matulia’s walk. With two runners on and two outs, Chris Amador made a valiant effort to keep the Cubs alive. A hard shot to third base, Amador attempted to beat out the throw as he slid head first into the bag. Amador came up just shy, being called out to end the game 4-3, splitting the first series of the season 2-2 with the Manatees.

PeoriaChiefs.com"]Burlington, IA – With the tying and winning runs on base, Peoria Chiefs closer Rocky Roquet dug deep for back to back strikeouts to preserve the a 2-1 win and give starter Rafael Dolis his first professional win over the Burlington Bees Monday night. With the win the Chiefs start 2-0 on the 2007 season after having two consecutive games snowed out over the weekend in Wisconsin .

After leaving a running in scoring position in the first inning, Peoria got on the board with a pair of extra base hits in the second. With one out, Yusuf Carter doubles off the right field wall and moved to third on a ground out by Dylan Johnston. With two down, DJ Lewis put the Chiefs on top 1-0 with an opposite field double down the right field line.

The Bees threatened in the second against Chiefs starter Rafael Dolis. With one out, Jase Turner drew a walk before Dolis struck out Joe Dickerson. Brady Everett collected a sharp single to left putting two on with two out. Dolis got of the jam by getting Scott Lucas to chase a high fastball to end the frame.

Peoria started off the third with another rally. Matt Camp executed a perfect bunt single down the third base line and came around to score on a double by Andrew Lopez for a 2-0 Chiefs lead. Burlington cut the lead in half against Dolis in the fifth. Dickerson led off with a single and moved to third on an errant pick off throw by Dolis. After a one out walk to Lucas, Dolis uncorked a wild pitch allowing Dickerson to score Burlington ’s first run.

Dolis set career highs with five innings pitched and eight strikeouts. He allowed just two hits and one unearned run while walking a pair. Jose Pina tossed one scoreless inning of relief while striking out two. Jayson Ruhlman retired all six batters he faced in two innings with one strikeout along the way. Rocky Roquet allowed a lead off single and walk in the ninth before striking out the last two batters to nail down his first save of the season.

Players of the Game

DJ Lewis (LF) & Rafael Dolis (RHP) – Lewis went 1-for-3 with a RBI and a walk. He drove in the Chiefs first run in the 2nd inning. Dolis picked up his first career win with five innings in which he allowed just two hits and an unearned run while striking out eight.

The biggest thing for me was seeing Dolis only get 2 BBs after his control problems in Mesa. 8 K/2 BB is awesome.

Good to see Colvin at least get into the game, even if his finger injury has nothing to do with what he'd do as a pinch runner.

Des Moines Register"]Albuquerque, N.M. - The Iowa Cubs' batters really got into the season swing Monday night against Albuquerque in a 9-4 victory.

The Cubs tallied 14 hits, topping the season's previous high of eight hits against Round Rock on April 5.

Centerfielder Felix Pie led the way going 3-for-4 and Eric Patterson went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

The Cubs were down three runs entering the sixth inning but tied the game after producing four straight hits and sending seven batters to the plate.

Patterson, Pie, and Micah Hoffpauir all singled. Koyie Hill started off the scoring by following up their hits with a double.

The Cubs followed that inning with an eight-batter seventh, scoring four runs.

Pitcher Carlos Marmol struck out six Isotopes in four innings and John Webb helped to clean up with one strikeout, notching his first win of the season.

"It's nice to win the first one. We had a talk today before the game with all of our hitters about how we've struck out and had too many fly outs," said Cubs manager Buddy Bailey.

Daytona News-Journal"]DAYTONA BEACH -- In baseball, third base is known as the hot corner. For the Daytona Cubs, it was the cold corner Monday night.

An error by Cubs third baseman Kyle Reynolds opened the door for two unearned runs by the Brevard County Manatees that led to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Daytona Cubs at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The win earned Brevard County, a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, a split in the first four games of the season against the Cubs.

In the bottom of the ninth, with the Cubs having runners on first and second, the game ended on a sensational play by Manatees third baseman Mat Gamel. Chris Amador belted a hard grounder down the line. Gamel made the back-handed grab and from two steps in foul territory fired a bullet to first to get the Cubs' fastest runner.

"It was a great play," said Daytona manager Jody Davis, who was in the third base coach's box. "I thought it was going in the (left-field) corner when it came off the bat. I'm thinking about (Matt) Matulia scoring from first for the win. But then when (Gamel) caught it I thought he'd try to get (Tyler) Colvin at third, but he came up throwing. To get Amador, that was a great throw."

It was a tough loss for the Cubs, who got off to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, then managed just one hit the rest of the way.

Peoria Journal-Star"]burlington, iowa - The Peoria Chiefs turned in another strong pitching performance Monday to defeat the Burlington Bees, 2-1, at Community Field. Chiefs pitchers combined to limit the Bees to just one run on three hits while striking out 13 batters in the first of a two-game set with Burlington.

Starter Rafael Dolis set the tone early, fanning a career-high eight and allowing just one hit to stifle the Bees' lineup before exiting with a 2-1 lead in the sixth.

Peoria went ahead 1-0 in the second on an RBI-double by D.J. Lewis that scored Yusuf Carter, who got things going with a one-out double to right.

The Chiefs added an insurance run in the third when Matt Camp scored on a double by Andrew Lopez.

The Chiefs' bullpen then finished what Dolis started, despite putting the potential winning run on base in the ninth.

After a leadoff single and a one-out walk put runners on the corners for the Bees in the ninth, Chiefs' closer Rocky Roquet shut the door by striking out the next two batters swinging to notch his first save of the year.

7-14 with 2 walks to start the season is great and all, but my biggest worry with Felix has always been his ability to hit for extra bases.

BAPR Plus"]Rafael Dolis’ longest pro outing before Monday was a trio of three-inning stints in the Arizona League last season. His 2006 numbers (0-2, 8.28) were extremely ugly. But on Monday, the 19-year-old Cubs prospect was in command for Peoria. Dolis struck out eight while walking two and allowing two hits to lead the Chiefs to a 2-1 win.

If I remember correctly, we never found out the correct DOB for Dolis. From BA: Born: Jan. 10, 1988 in Romana, D.R.. He's 19.

It kind of scares me that we will be seeing players born in the 90's soon.

You mean now? San Fran's # 2 prospect was born in the '90s.

i'm not familiar with dolis... how's he rate as far as a prospect.

i really have to get that BA handbook... i have the other 5 but have procrastinated this year

He didn't crack BA's Top 30 Prospect List...though I think he should have (and I had him in my top 30 list).

19 years old, 6'3, mid-90s FB, can rack up the Ks...converted position player. I think he's going to get a lot of publicity now that he's in low-A and crack BA's top 20-30 by next season.
