Sosa needs two more HRs to reach 600. Bobby Cox needs 2 more ejections to break John McGraw's all-time record. It will be interesting to see which occurs first.

Hmm... I'm gonna go with Sosa's 600 first before Cox's ejections.

Sammy is expected to start in RF tonight in Cincinnati. I plan to be in the park tomorrow night, soley for the purpose of seeing him, so I hope he makes it into the lineup then as well.

In 18 career games at GABP, Sammy has nine homers. Two this weekend would put him at 600.

that'd be awesome if sosa hit #500 at #600 at gabp.

good luck jr, i hope you catch #600.

Thanks man, you should come on down!

Here's an AP article from a Dominican source with plenty of quotes from Sammy left intact.

Sammy Sosa[/url]"]"I have to say this city is my lucky charm," Sosa said. "Any time I have the opportunity to come to Cincinnati, I always play different here. Hopefully I'll come back tomorrow and do the same."

I certainly wouldn't complain if Sammy hit #600 against the Cubs.

MLB.com is projecting Sammy to hit #600 against the Cubs on the 20th. That'd be cool if it happened that way

It would be. I just hope there's no bad blood.

Nor would I.

It would be very fitting.

I just hope it isn't a game decider. If he hits it when they're way up or way down, I'll be pulling for him. I guess I wouldn't even be too mad if it was the deciding blow in the game.

You know there will be a bunch of idiots who will boo him.

Unfortunately those "bunch of idiots" are your average cubs fans.

Pointless antics bring back painful Cubs memories

Barry Rozner

The more things change, huh?

Derrek Lee nearly gets decapitated because Alfonso Soriano’s doing his best Sammy Sosa imitation, and Soriano says he’s not about to stop celebrating.

Call it what you want, but dancing backward around the bases is selfish and going to get your teammates in trouble, if the other club has any pride at all.

You run up against an old-school pitcher and you’re asking for a fight, and it’s reminiscent of the time Sosa came back from a Japan tour and started bowing after home runs in spring training.

After guys got thrown at and brawls were on the verge, Mark Grace* and a couple of others went to Sosa and told him to stop before someone got killed.

Based on last year’s Hall of Fame voting, which saw Mark McGwire get smoked, Frank Thomas’ 500 homers are going to be viewed in a much better light than Sammy Sosa’s 600 homers.

Thomas is viewed as clean, while Sosa is generally considered filthy.

Sosa can smile and shake hands all he wants this year and talk the talk for however long he plays, but it’s not going to make anyone forget that when it came time to talk the talk in front of Congress, the man suddenly needed an interpreter.

*Yes CR, we know, the only reason Grace did it was because he was jealous of the attention Sammy was getting.

For the love of God, find something else to gripe about.

Tonight will be the night.

I have no grudge against Sammy, but I really don't want to see him hit it against the Cubs. I guess if the Cubs are blowing the Rangers out then I it wouldn't bother me. But, that seems unlikely with this team.

Vance,

Where are your seats?

This is great. The people who still love Sammy will (hopefully) get to see him hit number 600 against his former team. And those who hate him will have to (hopefully) watch him do it too.
