Nothing brings out a mullet like a Cardinal baseball game.

Albert Pujols hits the ball hard. Single in the first hit harder than the HR in the third (that landed somewhere in Kentucky). This just in, Al is good.

Travis Hafner is a terrible defensive 1st baseman.

Beer tastes just as good at AAA park as it does at MLB park.

What's the price comparison?

My #1 observation: the game was listed as HD, but wasn't.

Hence, I didn't watch.

is HD really that big of a difference? I could understand not wathcing b/c it was the cards and indians....but not b/c it wasn't HD

So you're admitting that you've got a mullet?

I find it difficult to watch anything that isn't HD now.

I'll still watch my favorite teams in non-HD, but it's a real struggle. Once you go HD, it's all that matters.

I'm with you all the way on that, Soul! Once you go HD, SD is just not the same! Think of it along the lines of having High Speed Internet and then having to revert back to dialup... that pretty much sums it up!

i think teams should use throwback jerseys more often

I do too, but maybe they are scared of the comparison with the NBA and the Sacramento Kings' gold and purple abomination.

They were charging MLB prices last night.

I forgot to put in the first post that I saw Lou Brock, Dave Winfield (the man is huge), and Spike Lee (the man is tiny). No Bud Selig though, what a loser. The man can't even show up to the Civil Rights game. Anyway, my wife and I had a good time. My wife too good and she's paying for it now.

I agree.

I think it depends. Yesterday I was watching the Cavs and Bulls game and didn't notice that it was on the HD channel until I saw the border on some of the commercials. On the other hand, watching NFL football over Christmas at my grandparents house(larger TV and seating closer to it) was awesome.

That is a horrible comparison. I get to watch HD when I go home (my parents have it) but don't mind coming back and watching tv on SD. But I have to deal with slower internet at work (not dialup but not nearly as fast as the internet in my apartment) and it would be horrible to have to use dialup.

SD just seems 'fuzzy' to me now when I watch it. I've become accustomed to seeing the details in HD when I watch sporting events... even be it a blade of grass, the knit in the jerseys, sweat beading off the players forehead, etc... You don't get that in 4:3 SD format. And Discovery HD Theater is the bomb when it comes to crystal clear programming!

Just out of curiosity, how much do yall pay for HD service? As it is, I feel like $53/month for tv is too expensive, I can't imagine what HD service would cost.

The HD service thru TWC-SA is about $15 extra (box and HD channels)

I'm trying to move down to Austin and looked at getting TWC, but it appears that Grande is quite a bit cheaper. What kind of experience do you have with both of them?

I've been with TWC since 1998 when RoadRunner became available here in New Braunfels. Before that I had DishNetwork. I don't have any gripes really with TW, I can't even remember the last time my service went out, if ever! I get over 6 Mbps on the downloads with RR. But I wish they offered more HD channels at this time, but they're on their way! Tons of OnDemand channels, so if you don't have a DVR, there will be no problem to catch a replay of your favorite shows.

I'd love to have the RR internet, but is it worth the $45/month plus $50-100 for installation?

Every penny... I even talked them into giving me the intro rate of $29.95 and it hasn't reverted back to the $45/mo. in 2.5 years! I don't know about the $50-100 install fee, I don't recall paying that much when I first signed up.. but then again it was 9 yrs ago!

According to their website it costs $50 if you install it yourself, and $100 for them to install it for you...for that cost I can easily do it myself.

Yeah, I think the DirecTV cost comes in around the same: it's $10/month extra for the HD channels, and then there's the fee for equipment.

And whoever said Discover HD is the bomb -- couldn't agree more. Sports are great in HD, and Discover HD will have you mesmerized for hours. The new series "Planet Earth" is just amazing. It's like looking through a window at other parts of the world.

DirecTV is testing the new National Geo HD now, too. With the sports and those two channels, I don't see myself checking out much SD programming anymore. Pretty much just the bulls/cubs/bears games that aren't broadcast in HD, and that's it.

If you ain't HD, you ain't counting me among your viewers 8-)
