I figure he'd be more accepting that the Cubs would want him to get back to 100% before taking a big risk that could hurt both him and the Cubs.

If he's gonna be a little pre-teen about it, then keep him down there until we need him instead of when he's ready

He is an employee, and his bosses are doing what's best for him based on his job performance. They've said that when he's ready to go, he'll be back up.

That Sullivan article made it sounds worse then it was. I just saw the interview on MLBTV and he didn't sound pissed off.

That article and all of his comments about "being an employee" explain a lot about his mental makeup. The guy is soft.

and to think, you've only graced us with six insightful posts such as this one.

I am sure he is disappointed. His career has turned into a joke.

I know I'm a broken record over these lately, but please, shrink your damn avatar. It's obnoxiously huge and throwing off the page layout.

"It was more of a one way meeting," he said. "Lou said his piece. He was positive. He said he liked the way I threw the ball the last couple of times. Lou's been around the game. He knows what he's looking for. He knows what he wants. So, I was fine with everything he said. When you're an employee, you don't really have a whole lot of say in it, so there wasn't much for me to say. I'm not a guy that's going to be loud and start yelling."

I wish he would've gotten mad and yelled. He needs to show some of that fire that he used to have. Mentally, the Mark Prior of today is not the same man as the guy that threw high and tight to Barry Bonds, and then stood his ground when Bonds had a problem with it. He seems more shellshocked now, and he needs to get his fire back.

Just my opinion though

I smell small Paul Sullivan's handy work all over this.

Sullivan: Mark, care to give us any comments on why you were sent down? Will you ask for a trade?

Prior: I'm not going down that road. I'm under their control until I'm not under their control. It's up to them whether they want me. I'm just an employee.

There is nothing to report here, nothing.

Prior was sent down, he's pissed as any of us would be in his situation.

What good is getting "his fire back" gonna do when his curve doesn't break and his fastball is too slow? This is getting ridiculous....

His curve does seem to be breaking a little, and he is slowly gaining velocity on his FB. So what's so bad about also wanting some passion and anger in Prior to use in a positive way?

Not surprisingly, Bruce Miles has a different take on Prior's news conference:

...Prior struck a mildly defiant tone, often referring to himself as “an employee” and insisting he could get major-league hitters out.

“It’s part of the business,” he said. “That’s the way I look at it. There’s not much I can say. I’m a controlled player. I do what I’m told.

“I don’t think there’s a whole lot you can say. I think their decision was made. So you just accept it, you go down and you get your work in.”

“It was more of a one-way meeting,” Prior said. “Lou said his piece. He was positive. He thought he liked the way I threw the ball the last couple times. Lou has been around the game. He knows what he’s looking for. He knows what he wants. I was fine with everything he said.

“When you’re an employee, you don’t really have a whole lot of say, so there wasn’t much for me to say. I’m not a guy who’s going to get all bothered and start yelling. The decision’s made. You accept it. You move on.”

Sounds like the words of anyone in his situation...

What about those comments make him soft?

Big surprise about any Arte Johnson article. Paul Sullivan is awful. The new Suntimes writer puts him to shame every single day. Sullivan is just a useless little twerp.

Yep, it's completely ridiculous to think that his mental state has an impact on the way he pitches.

His fastball was gaining velocity, and his curve was improving slightly. Which is exactly what happens in spring training. I was pointing out that he looked like a whipped puppy when he pitched out there. His mental state is obviously affecting the way he pitches.
