How am I supposed to wait til freaking Sunday for this!?

You must give them time to rig the outcome.

Agreed, unfortunately.

We can put it back out after Sunday.

I had thought about that possibility but it might be best if that thread kinda disappear. Maybe a new thread can be made if/when it's announced the Cubs won. If someone from there saw this thread I could see them doing something drastic, even if most of what went on was legal according to the rules.

That's true. I doubt they'd be looking much after Sunday, though.

Probably, but I'd hate for there to be some repercussions (did I spell that right?)

Vance, any chance we know the outcome tonight?

I'm not sure when they'll update the website for Sunday's edition. Sometime after midnight, I'm sure. I just got back from Wal-Mart, but they didn't have the early editions yet. I was hoping it would be in one of those. So, doubtful we know anything tonight.

Well, it's as we expected.

Link.

When the balloting was finished, the Astros had reclaimed the lead and finally secured a surprisingly competitive three-peat.

Houston’s 343 votes pushed its final tally to 681, while the Cubs finished with 613.

We all know the Cubs really won. The only reason the Astros got a second chance was because the paper "misplaced" some of the Cubs votes the first time. When they acknowledged that the Cubs actually had more votes than the Astros after counting the ones that were overlooked at first, by all rights there should not have been a runoff in the first place and the Cubs should have been declared the legitimate winners.

I find it funny that the Astros accumulated more votes in less than a day than they were able to get in the first four days of the run-off combined. Oh well, we knew they'd pull something.

This time instead of under-counting Cub votes, they over counted Astro votes to match us.

I probably won't bother to even vote next year.

I think the count was rigged. I'm going to send them an email saying so.

I have my questions as well. I just wonder if those Astro form letters were printed at the News-Star.

I think the whole issue smacks of a lack of integrity on the editor's part.

I'd make another call for split coverage-say that so many people wanted each in the contest that it would increase the readership of the newspaper to cover both-you said it before the contest was finished, so you have some credibility on that Vance-and if you thought about it a little bit, I think you could have a pretty compelling letter.

Well, they say in the article they will have expanded Cub coverage, but that the Astros will still be featured as the home-team.

I just wanted the Cubs to be the home team. I'm certain anything they write about the Cubs, I'll have known about before they do.

But it took an unprecedented runoff --- called after some Cubs votes were allegedly missed

Allegedly missed?

LIARS!

You had to know there was no way the paper would allow the Cubs to win. We could vote over and over and over again and the results would always come out the same. Vance, I'd just not even worry about it next year.

That's pretty much my feeling.

Part of me wants to throw as much support as I can with the Braves fans next year just to see if we can rid ourselves of the Astros.

I think if we counted up the number of votes from NSBB people, we'd have more than the Astros. Just by going back through this thread, I'm sure there are more than enough. Sorry Vance, you got hosed.
