Guzman did alright. His stuff looked decent. I'd still rather see Miller get the #5 nod just so we can get him traded for something decent.

I don't think Guzman established himself as the clear favorite with this outing-but neither do I think is he out of the race yet. Here are the side by side stats of their last start (just for curiosity's sake-it's hard to know for sure whose outing was better when we saw one of the starts and didn't get to see the other one, as we know defense contributed to at least one or two runs of Guzman but we don't know for sure if that was the case for Miller or not):

Miller: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR allowed

Guzman: 3.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 HBP, 0 HR allowed

While I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen, I would be very upset if that goes on past the first week of May.

we aren't going to get anything decent for miller and he's just in the way. if he(wade) isn't willing to move to the pen, then we get what we can and cut our, not too considerable, losses.

The guy that hawk and dj were interviewing (marketing guy or something like that) mentioned that something happened between the wsox and Vicente Padilla. Anyone know what that was/is?

A beanball war breaks out seemingly every time he pitches against them.

I really don't think that Miller would bring much in a trade. Might be better off having him start the season in the rotation then trading him at the deadline if he's doing well.

He's not "in the way" if he's pitching well enough to start. I haven't seen much that shows that Guzman is like light years ahead of Miller and should definitely be starting over him. Miller can potentially net the Cubs a very nice return if he goes out there for a few weeks and shows that he can get some wins. No, I don't want him to be the option over Guzman or, hopefully, Prior by the time May rolls around, but I also don't see any overwhelming reasons that we HAVE to start Guzman over Miller in the #5 slot.

It's not like Guzman is going anywhere and I don't think starting the year in the minors is going to be a bad thing. Show off Miller, get him moved and then Guzman can move up. What's the catastrophe in not having him there the first few weeks?

Here comes Cherry

I think Lou is seeing if he can trust him to get a big out in a tough situation.

I'm thinking this inning might have a huge impact on whether or not he makes the roster out of spring training.

Who are these announcers on WGN? They don't sound annoying enough to be Hawk and DJ.

Hawk, DJ & Sox marketing man Brooks Boyer

Really? They aren't pissing me off as much as I remember from last year. Maybe they're waiting for the regular season.

Theyre pumping up the cell and trying to get people to go by saying its an expirience youll never forget and its amazing.Theyre trying to get more than 800 people to fill the ballpark this year.I guess they call hanging around with a bunch of crumb bums and getting robbed and carjacked a great time.

Hawk has been pretty quiet for about 2 innings.

That must be why. And they have the marketing guy in the booth so they're talking to him and less about the game.
