The old guy is Jerry Coleman, and yes he is really, really old. Kind of like Harry in his later years, but without the oversized tongue. He's also in the Hall-of-Fame.

 

I like how he has like three different mispronunciations for Theriot.

No. No. No. Pie needs regular ABs. His bat hasn't caught up to the rest of his game and it's not going to get better with irregular ABs in Wrigley.

If you're a closer, you're going to have to be able to throw back-to-back games.

 

An obvious point, of course, but it's worth noting that Ryan Dempster's performance in back-to-back games was horrible last year.

 

By the metrics at Baseball Prospectus, he was the worst in the pen in such situations, worse than Howry, Ohman, Eyre, Novoa, Wuertz, and Aardsma.

 

I still think Dempster has a lot of value against righties, but I'd rather not see him close again. Wuertz or Howry, please.
