See anything unusual in your drafts lately?

Some things in a recent draft...

How about Michael Barrett going in the second round, 20th overall.

Rich Hill going in the seventh round, 96th overall.

I was in a draft yesterday with a couple of friends. There was only nine of us, so the guy who set the draft up added one of his buddies at the last minute.

He picked Nomar in the second round and Eckstein in the second. I would have thought he was scewing up on purpose, but i think he really didnt know what the hell he was doing. He picked like 8 cardinals, so im assuming that he's a fan of theirs, and he just doesnt know any other players.

Jim Thome going to me in the 7th round, 96th overall. Ten picks after Aaron Harang and nine after J.J. Putz. 13 picks after Felipe Lopez.

I got Johan Santana with the 6th pick in the draft yesterday.

I was very happy.

That's absurd. He's gone in the top three in every draft I've been in.

Although I could understand Jim Thome going low. He's old, and started to break down towards the end of last year.

Isn't that about his typical draft slot?

Depending upon the size of the league, he usually goes in the 7-8th round.

I got him with the 101st pick in my draft, in the first pick of the 11th round.

Micheal Barret was me. I made 2 good first picks. ARAM and Beltran. But when the 3rd pick came around I didn't realize I should have been looking for the best available guys left.

I don't think it was you. Southern Northsiders? That was his second pick, and the first pick was Carlos Zambrano.

I saw Carl Crawford go first overall last year. Now, I know he's good and all. But over Pujols? Rodriguez? Santana? no way.

This year I think that's a stretch over Pujols. But I might take him over Santana. He's 5 category contributor who's only 25, and could break out power wise very soon.

I have Carl Crawford on two of my teams. As far as I'm concerned, he (along with Reyes or Santana) are all options for the first pick, along with pujols.

Hank Blalock and Johnny Peralta went in the final 22nd round of our league. I kow they're not Top 10 round players, but I figure they wouldn't be last resort picks.

I took Griffey in the 18th round. I know he's a risk, but he's probably got the best upside of any of the offensive risk picks in the entire league. As long as he plays he'll produce, and since I got him late I've got good options to replace him with if he injures himself or doesn't perform.

I was kinda peeved that they didn't have Bill Hall listed as an OF'er, which if I'm not mistaken is what he'l be playing this year.

That kinda f'd up my draft, Yahoo has him listed as SS & 3B, and during my drafting it said I needed some OF'ers and I had forgot that I had drafted him for the OF, since it was coming up as a SS, and I had neglected SS and instead overstocked on OF until about the 17th/18th round. That kinda pissed me off

Ok, he was my third pick. Not sure which round, but out of 10 players it went through them to the right once, back left, and back again right. And on the 9th person (me) was picked. Not sure which round that was.

In a traditional 5x5 roto league, PECOTA's playing-time-adjusted forecast has Thome as the 108th best hitter available, and projects Felipe Lopez to be more valuable than Thome (taking position into consideration, of course).

The White Sox training staff is very good, though, so if Thome avoids getting hurt, you've got a steal.

And even if he does get hurt, he'll help win several weeks in a head-to-head league while he's healthy.

Depends on the format.

If you play 5x5, no. If you play deeper than 5x5, its not absurd.
