Now that's what I like to hear.

MESA, Ariz. -- Cubs manager Lou Piniella expects the starting rotation to go right, left, right, left, right. Lefty Rich Hill should fit one of those spots.

"I fully anticipate he'll be in our rotation," Piniella said. "And my son has got him on his fantasy team, so I can't mess that up."

I wish I had quoted my guarantee that Hill would be in this year's rotation in my sig.

That way I could just post "Points to sig."

That's nice to hear. Hopefully that means the last spot isn't for Marquis right now (or Marquis' to lose). Edited by Jon

That is load off my mind.

Who is the odd man out?

Does Miller go to the DL?

If Prior is as healthy and strong as the reports coming out are indicating thus far, Miller will definitely not be in the rotation. At least for the time being, Marquis is going to have a spot.

if we have a bullpen with miller, eyre, cotts, wuertz, howry, wood & dempster, how many innings do starters really have to throw?

(don't get me wrong, i'd rather have marquis and miller switch spots, but still...)

Interesting. I'd imagine that pegs the rotation at this point as

Zambrano

Lilly

Prior

Hill

Marquis/Miller/Guzman

Honestly, I like it. Marquis SHOULD be the 5th man and have to earn the job, 3/21 contract be damned. If we wins it, good. If not, at least you hopefully manage his appearences to make him trade bait eventually.

we need to find lou's son, see if he takes bribes. i'm sure guzman and the riot is available in his league, make him an offer he cant refuse.

Maybe Bruce can enlighten us, but it seems like there are a lot more quotes from Lou everyday than there ever were from Dusty. It seems like Lou is getting along much better with the media. Glad to see he has some personality as well.

To be fair to Dusty, if everything you touched turned to crap, wouldn't you hide from the media, too? :D

It's just Lou's quotes are easier to decipher.

Maybe that's because Lou doesn't think everyone's out to get 'em. .

Say Hill has a bad spring and doesn't look like he did in the 2nd half. Do you still keep him in?

Depends on why he had the bad spring (injury, couldn't locate his offspeed because it's AZ or what). I think he deserves quite some leeway after his second half last season.
