So here I was trolling about town in my wife's car (the one without XM) and they were talking Angels baseball with Mike Scocissa (sp?). Good long interview and they were talking about their lack of offense and their projected lineup. Then they spent a bunch of time talking about Juan Rivera and his injury impact on the team. Scos talked a lot about thinking that they weren't done and to talk to him about the offense on 3/26 (when they happen to play the Cubs).

All this talk about offense and the need for the Angels to have some young guys step up (Kotchman & Morales) got me thinking about a Jones deal to Anaheim in mid to late spring depending on Pie's spring. I think that the Angels are a good trading partner for the Cubs and have some young players that the team would be interested in.

If jones is dealt I doubt it would be for Major league talent unless its for a true CF. A Jones for Aybar & change deal wouldn't be all bad.

With Guerrero, GMJR, and Garrett Anderson, I'm not sure why they would need Jones.

I think they think Anderson needs to spend time at DH.

why?

to get a better return. maybe we can get something for marshall before anyone realizes that he's just not any good.

i see. i guess i should have know better than to ask.

I keep thinking that Jones alone has some value, but there are plenty of candidates to put in a package with him......Marshall(or another young pitcher), Eyre, Novoa, etc.

Jones has some value, Marshall has some value, add them together and we might actually get something in return.

i really think marshall should be traded now, as i doubt that his value will ever be higher.

Sean Rodriguez?

I was shooting for something a smidge more realistic than BBB and Tim :)

In reality we'd be lucky to end up with Willits.

Reality is that Wood will rot in AAA behind Orlando Cabrera, and Jones can help them now. Hey, if they don't want to part with Wood, we'll be happy to run Cesar Izturis out there everyday. Oh, wait....maybe happy isn't the correct terminology.

Reality is that if we wanted Wood we'd have to give up Jones, Pie, AND a pitching prospect. Wood is a top 10 prospect.

I believe I've read that his long term chances as a SS is low...maybe they will give him a shot at 3B or 1B in ST.

Scouts believe he can handle shortstop longterm.

I've been sarcastic about Wood, just as Tim was being sarcastic about Adenhart.

Sarcasm aside, I'd give up quite a bit for Brandon Wood.

i have to believe that jones and marshall have a decent amount of value. a ready-made hitter and a young lefty with some perceived talent might be attractive to a team like the angels.

Wood will move to 3B when he comes to Anaheim. He can play SS, but 3B will be where they need him.
