Anything that takes away the microphone from Ted Leitner would be fine by me. But, I don't listen to the games on the radio. They broadcast every game locally on tv. The tv team is one of the best around with Matt Vasgersian and Mark Grant.

I'll miss his voice atleast. Just like anything, you get used to something, and you hate to see it go.

Who will take over for Pat on the 7th inning from now on? Or will Pat just have to stop taking elongated bathroom breaks during the 7th?

I believe its in his contract, so I'm guessing he'll still take an inning off. Its not like Masur is Zambrano or something...he can easily be replaced.

So true!!

Seriously, I always thought they were trying to groom Mazur for a play by play gig at some point, but it never took. I thought he was alright as a reporter, but not more than that. It will be interesting to see how that works out. Only mildly interesting, though. Seriously, I never understood what Pat was doing during those times. What's up with that?

On another note, Giles Bros, (and forgive me if I've mentioned this before) I appreciate your optimistic view on the state of affairs with the Cubs. I especially enjoy the diamterically opposed imagerey of your Piniella icon with your thoughts on the team.

This may not be the right thread for the following opinion, but (and note that this is heavily intoxicated) let me throw a few predictions out there:

1. Soriano puts up numbers similar to the 2004 numbers

2. Rich Hill wins 16 games with a sub 3.50 ERA (OK, jump all over me for throwing a win stat out there)

3. Prior has a lousy first half but regains form in the second half, ending up with a sub 3.80 ERA. I know there is not a sabremtrically driven argument for this, but thats what my gut tells me.

Just throwin it out there, without having the patience to post in the appropriate thread....

My favorite Masur moment is really a Ronnie moment. I forget when this was, I think July 2004 or so against the Mets. Masur was doing the play by play and Ron, who had evidently come from the bathroom, put his headset on and asked "What happened?" live on-air, as there was already an out. Masur explained that Alou had caught a fly ball in left field.

All of this is so very true. As much as Len is a good play by play guy, Matt V. is still the best.

Grant complements Vasgersian so well, that they are just so natural together.

One of my favorite commercials is Mark Grant circling the bases on a motorcycle and sliding into 3rd base.

So you do you think will be the likely "7th inning pat replacement guy" now that masur is gone? I got used to his voice so it really didn't bother me. But he wasn't really exciting. .

On a side note. It's gonna be so great to hear ron interviewing lou instead of dusty on the pre-game show. And refering to him, as the "fine fine, manager of the chicago cubs, lou piniella". .
