I'm pulling for the Colts today but I really hope it's a close, entertaining game and not a blowout.

ETA: I would rather have a close Bears victory than a Colts blowout victory.

Anybody gonna be here for the game?

Watching the Super Bowl and posting on the internet at the same time? People do that?

It does when there are minimal amounts of Bears fans here, and I'd rather watch this game alone than with people who don't really care.

I vaguely remember a game back in the early 60's when the BEARS invaded Baltimore to play these same Colts and their number 1 quarterback, Johhny Unitas. As near as I recall, the BEARS won that one about 57-0. Are there any old-timers out there that remember that one, or am I just getting old and senile ??

I'm not an "old timer", just someone who loves to review the history of the game, but the only game that fits your discription was the 1964 game Week 3 game between the Baltimore Colts and the Chicago Bears. The Colts won that game in a WHITEWASH, 52-0.

*In Week 14 of the 1980 season, the Bears did beat the Packers 61-7. (didn't fit the criteria, but anytime you beat the Packers by a significant score, is always good to announce)

Similar results to fit your discriptions, Fred:

*In Week 9 of the 1943 season, the Bears went in NY and beat the Giants 56-7

*Week 12 of the 1944 season, the Bears went to the Chi/Pitt Cards/Steelers and beat them 49-7.

So, maybe you memory is trying to protect, but the 57-0 beatdown of the Colts in Baltimore, was in truth a 52-0 beatdown by the Colts in Baltimore.

Ditto - I hate being amongst people who dont have as much rooting interest in a game like this.

I can definitely understand that. I've never been a big fan of going to Super Bowl parties, cause I like to actually watch the game (and the commercials). This year, I'm watching the game with my girlfriend in my living room. But with that said, I can't imagine myself watching my favorite team play in the Super Bowl and be sitting at my computer talking about it online while it was going on. To each his own though.

Exactly. I watched the two first playoff games alone, so why ruin the mojo?

Aww, Boomer, Marino and Sharpe all picked the Colts.

Colts hype in full swing now. Boomer was basically trying to coach the Colts to victory from the announcer's booth.

Yeah, that stinks. I was listening to the coverage on Sirius NFL Radio and when they all made their picks they said that Bears fans should be celebrating now. Boomer also gave his keys to the game on teh radio. Not sure if he did on the tv yet. The coverage had interviews with the 4 men that have covered every SB. Awesome interview.

Ever hear of a game thread?

I'd like to add that the spectacle currently playing itself out on the field is an affront to the sport of football.
