I know that it's just one guys opinion, but CNNsi has the Bears as the best team in the NFC, and says we'd be "middle of the pack" in the AFC. He gives us the best odds to win in the Super Bowl of any of the NFC teams, but he still puts as 10 to 1.

He also says Grossman was no match for 3 of the 4 AFC defenses he faced. People continue to classify his solid effort against the Jets as a bad game.

Obviously the NFC isn't as strong top to bottom, but I really dont' get how people can say the AFC is so much better. Bears absolutely demolished Buffalo, who until this week had playoff chances. Bears went into NY and beat a likely playoff team in the jets. Weak teams like the titans have a chance to make the playoffs. Yes in general the AFC has more strong teams, but it isn't like they are dominant over good NFC teams.

and to say the Bengals woudl have breezed through the NFC to an easy first seed like that guy did is just a good example of the low standards for journalism - I'm suprised he didn't write about the QB controversy in Chicago, or how Tank Johnson trains dogs to kill

The Bears are at least better than every team in the AFC from the Colts on down. Yes, they are a better team than the Patriots.

NFL Live on ESPN brought up the 4th quarter of Sunday's game. Again, they made it seem like it was more of an issue than everyone who follows the team knows it is. They even acknowledged what Lovie said about it being the gameplan all along. That didn't matter Golic and Salisbury, both mentioned it was a sign of a "short leash" for Rex and "an eye opener". unreal.

I didn't know there was a QB contreversy. I was under the impression that the Bears had clinched the NFC with HA throughout and that Lovie just wanted to give Rex some rest to not risk injury. Also, if there's such a contreversy why isn't anyone in Chicago, including the media and the coaching staff acknowledging this?

I'm still trying to figure out how much more the national media (not including national broadcasters) is repsonsible for holding back the intelligence of the average sports fan in this country as opposed to the local media.

Let's go Packers!

Could bare the fact that you were a Sox fan, but a Packers fan too? That's 2 strikes....I'll be watching closely for the third ;)

I hear he's a Knicks fan ;)

He also likes the Illini. What an evil trio.

Come on Packer fans...you guys haven't beaten a winning team all year, do you really want to go the playoffs? Lame.

Yeah, of course I do. None of the 7-8 teams "really" deserve it, but I could not care less. You're telling me that the Giants deserve it? They have been one of the worst teams in the league the last month or so. The Falcons? Once again, another underachiever. The Panthers? That team should've been a Super Bowl contender before injuries caught up with them, and now they have Chris WEINKE as QB. The Rams? They let Noah Herron rush for over 100 yards when we played them. Enough said about them.

Of course we don't necessarily deserve to make the playoffs. We were 1-4 and 4-8 in different parts of the season. But if we were able to make it, you would find no complaining from me

Please please please make it to the second round so the Bears can smack Favre around for the 3rd time in the year...that would be special. :)

EDIT: Nevermind, you'd have to beat the Bears to get in, and I just can't root for that.

I don't want to see it anyway. Knowing how our luck is, we'd sack Favre 15 times and get 15 personal foul penalties for "punishing the quarterback with your weight"

wtf?

If i see a single roughing call like that I'm going to throw a sh*tfit this sunday. the League HAS GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM.

Good god. That's ridiculous that a national media outlet can't properly analyze something so damned simple and obvious.

It depends on the local outlet and the individual media member. The majority of local radio hosts, beat writers and columnists pretty much use the same thought process and are trapped by the same logical fallacies that the national people use. They think and analyze by cliche, reduce to the lowest common denominator, etc.

There are precious few local guys (our own Bruce Miles, Lawrence Holmes, Dan Bernstein) that don't use conventional wisdom.

Hard to isolate them from the controversy-creating, loud talking, illogical media, though, for the general public.

Let the flex scheduling backlash begin. The bears will be ending beer sales at halftime due to the time change.

HEY NOW!

Come on Packer fans...you guys haven't beaten a winning team all year, do you really want to go the playoffs? Lame.

If our Bears really cared I wouldn't really worry about this game, but the way the defense is playing so lackadasically who knows what could happen.

Lets hope the Bears hang 40 on them and its a long night of Madden jerking off to Favre. *sigh*

Bears fans talking about beating winning teams?? The only two winning teams the Bears have beaten are the Seahawks and the Jets.

Anyways, this game means absolutely nothing to the Bears, while it could potentially mean everything for the Packers (or it could mean nothing, depending on how the earlier games turn out). The Bears don't need this game. Please just let the Packers win.

Sounds like a Packer fan. We're in the EARN it business, fella.

Unless you're a Bears DB in this game. I'm sure Farve will give them definitely a few gift INTs.

NO. I hope the Bears win by 30.

I'm not debating the Bears are a better team, and could easily beat the Packers with full strength and full effort. I'm just saying that there's a good chance that the Bears won't play their hardest. And if that's the case, well, you guys almost lost to the Lions last week....

Hey guys, not only is there a QB controversy, there's also a RB and WR controversy...also based on the fourth quarter. Moose and Berrian are now being challenged by Mark Bradley and TJ and Benson have been leapfrogged by AP.

I was responding to your asking the Bears to let the Packers win.

Got my awesome orange Vasher jersey for Christmas....and I'll be wearing it on New Year's Eve watching the game.

The good thing is that at my party the game will definitely be on, and then I can just keep on drinking for the normal party. It's gonna be a hoot! Time to smash those Packers and finish off Brett Favre.

Yeah, and we played 3 winning teams total, to round out a 66% winning percentage against winning teams. Whatever, thats not that bad. BUT we also took care of bidness against every other team cept the Dolphins.

Tear down the Packers and rip out every cheese fan's heart. It warms my dark dark heart to see tears fill their eyes as Favre's last year ends in dissapointment.

Its the least we deserve after years of misery at his hands, after all.

Not that it matters, but Rex Grossman drops 6 spots in the QB rankings to #18 after his 20-36 197 yards, 1 TD performance. I don't get it, did he really look that bad on Sunday?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2708631

Grossman was benched in the fourth quarter and backup QB Brian Griese rallied the Bears to a victory over Detroit with a 6-for-9, 51-yard performance. Grossman was 20-for-36 for 197 yards and one TD, but he missed on several passes that would have put Detroit away. But he is still the Bears' starting QB.

I know he's 4th in the league in most INTs, but he's also 4th in the league in TD passes. It's not like this guy is terrible. I mean he is ranked in between Eli Manning and Jon Kitna!

"Benched"? "Rallied"? The only pass I recall him "missing" was the overthrow to Moose. ESPN really seems to have it in for Rex.
