How on Earth did this thread get to be 9 pages long? I can sum it up in three lines:

Dunn K's a lot and his defence sucks, but he walks a ton and hits for great power. Some people think if he just simply K'd less, he'd be a better hitter and they would be wrong. He'll never play for the Cubs.

Did that about cover it?

What are you talking about? This is the shortest Dunn thread in a while. The Douchebag McGee guy hasn't even show up yet.

Yeah, 9 pages ain't nuthin.

He's saying that Dunn is a bum and only tries when the game is on the line, because he is a glory whore.

it was a joke, although the irony of baiting you, a sabr guy, into arguing Dunn's clutchiness is infinitly funnier than my original post.

Well, he's never once hit a meaningful home run.

Very true. He just litters baseball with his meaningless home runs. It's clear to me that he, like Kyle Farnsworth, is a gutless choking dog.

Now take Juan Pierre. He doesn't hit many homeruns, but man, when he does, they are meaningful.

What’s this? Why…I think…yes, indeed, that is evidence of empathy from you IMB.

Look, he made some bad decisions. Not reading or knowing the context of the discussion before commenting was a bad decision. As a relative newbie, presuming to know what I think was a bad decision. Going against his philosophy in an argument was a bad decision. Trying to show somebody up rather than have meaningful discussion was a bad decision. Coming after me when all the above is occurring is a bad decision.

He got what he deserved. Surely someone who lacks empathy such as yourself can see that.

Dunn's OPS has decreased the last seasons. It's still good, but that's a bad trend. His defense is terrible. He can't run and, no matter what some of you believe, a ballplayer does need to be able to move around a little bit. It helps. A slow, .230 hitting, strikeout waiting to happen player with absolutely no redeeming defensive quality doesn't belong on the cubs. He belongs in the American League. He's not what the cubs need. He wonderful VORP and declining OPS do not make up for his faults. Move on. You'll be happier in the long run.

Dunn is not slow but he had a bad year in the field. However, he'd have to really be a butcher out there to overcome the number of runs he creates.

He's exactly what the Cubs need. But I expect Jim Hendry to be appearing in a GEICO comercial very soon so I doubt Dunn is an aption

"So easy even a Hendry can do it."

I hate these Dunn threads as much as the next guy. However with our new rotation we are going to need some more hitting, and the Cubs want a left handed hitter. Hello Adam Dunn. The Reds are said to be interested in shopping him. He makes a lot of money for them to take on. We need another power hitting lefty who can play a corner OF spot and move Soriano to CF. We trade Jones, Ohman, Marmol, and some more prospects if we need to to get Dunn. This way Jock get his wich and gets out of town. The Reds get another OF with some pop who is cheaper. They get a solid reliever in Ohman and some good SP prosppects which is something they crave. We get a lefty to hit 6th in our order who has hit some bombs at Wrigley. I remember him hitting one into the bleachers near me and it chipped the concrete, surprisingly it didn't kill anyone. He is a bad defender, but he does have a strong arm that would help him in RF. Trade for Dunn, sign Floyd and call it and offseason

No offense meant, but why can't this go into the other Dunn thread(s)?

There hasn't been on in a while and I don't feel like looking for it.

If not Dunn what other left-handed OF bats are out there?
