so houston will probably lose clemens, pettitte(sp) is retiring maybe. i've heard, as has everyone else, that they are going to go after carlos lee. has anyone seen anything on the pitching front with the astros?

there is no way st louis gets to the series again with that team. i never really got upset about them winning because it seems so impossible. but they may lose both suppan and weaver. and other than that i have heard little to nothing about who they may obtain this offseason.

the brewers don't seem too primed to do anything either, though i can faintly recall them maybe going for one of the bigger named fa's.

the way it's going right now, though the offseason is not over today by far, the cubs are looking real good in the central.

The Astros could be landing spots for Lee or Adam Dunn .

Their rotation is going to be a huge question mark. Oswalt is going to be a health concern with his violent hip action, and Roger and Andy both may retire.

The rest of the teams in the NL Central are probably doing exactly what they did in '04: hoping the Cubs moves won't matter due to a rash of injuries or just bad Cub baseball.

Why would they think anything else? It's happened before.

As much as I love Dunn, I think we should target Griffey.

Reasoning?

I'd like this line-up:

Soriano RF

Murton LF

Griffey CF

Lee 1b

Ramirez 3b

Barrett C

Derosa 2b

Izturis SS

I wouldn't mind that lineup one bit. If/when Griffey goes down you can call up Pie or let Pagan try to hold down the fort depending on the severity.

On the other hand...is Griffey that big of an upgrade over Jones at this point?

I'm not sure how he is considered an upgrade in any way.
