Also from the article a tid-bit about Aram (nothing new):

Cubs' Ramirez files: Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez was among 39 players who filed for free agency, raising the free agent total to 122. Ramirez had a clause allowing him to opt out of the two years and $22.5 million left in his contract. About 70 more players are eligible to file by Nov. 11.

I said this in the first HR thread, but if he was canned b/c of progressive discipline - i.e., that he this wasn't the first time this sort of thing happened - he's likely doesn't have much on the ball here. But the real issue is what his employment contract says - what is "cause" for termination under the agreement?

According to what I heard on the radio he's suing under the grounds that he was terminated for sexual harassment - particularly for hugging a female employee. If that was mentioned in the first thread, oh well, never saw it.

Anyone else have trouble seeing Harold harassing someone? He's a pretty friendly guy from what Ive seen on broadcasts, all-star games, etc. Personally he comes off to me as the type of guy who hugs just about everyone.

A hug is harrassment if the huggee has no interest in being hugged. I know a couple dirty old men who use the hug as a cheap and obvious way of squeezing up against some boobs.

Being a nice guy on camera doesn't mean anything.

I do that but only to my wife. Am I harassing her?

Only if it's unwanted attention...

Yes. that's what she's been telling me, anyway.

Thank you, I was born yesterday.

And since when is Harold a dirty old man? Being a nice guy on camera doesn't mean anything, but it also doesn't mean he's automatically an undercover perv, either.

Call me crazy, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the guy I saw on TV everyday over the random woman who I havent.

I find this story interesting from a couple of angles.

Firstly. I wondered if the suits at the "World Wide Leader in Sports" in Bristol,CT really want their "dirty laundry" being aired.

Secondly, its not as if Reynolds is the first on-air personality at ESPN to have "issues". I believe Tirico had some a few years back and there have been rumors, emphasis on rumors, about Berman. Also the guy who does some basketball reporting. Can't think of his name right now.

Anyhow, put me in the camp of mildly interested in how this plays out.

aw, come on. Who doesn't like some boobage every now and again?

QFT.

Berman, Tirico and Gary Miller have all gone nuts at times over the last decade. None were fired, but Miller was banished to the west coast.

They don't have laws about peeing outside on the west coast?

I believe Tirico was practically stalking a woman that worked there. Much worse than a hug, yet he kept his job.

Okay, that's crazy. Why would you ever make your determination based on one party being on TV everyday and the other not? The company already made their decision, so obviously somebody in the know is buying her story.

That's like saying OJ must have been innocent because we saw him all over the TV for years and he seemed like a good guy, while we've never seeen his wife and her lover.

He's been hitting on Chris Berman lately from what I hear. He sneaks up from behind and grabs him, Berman calls him Tip Toe Through the Tulips Tirico.
