So, we're close to replacing the driver, but the Car Dealer, the Bank, and the Car itself remain the same.

If you've got a rusty old Dodge Neon, would it matter if you changed from Dick Trickle to Jeff Gordon?

Maybe a little :)

OK, that's my analogy for the day...

If you put $115 million into that Neon's engine, I could care less what it looked like. :D

We're only short a hitting coach now.

Cubs add three to coaching staff

Mike Quade, third base (already known)

Matt Sinatro, first base

Lester Strode, bullpen

No Ryno at first base, apparently.

who be sinatro and strode?

I don't know much about either of them, but I just looked it up. Matt Sinatro was a little used catcher for 11 years in the major leagues. He was a bullpen coach for Piniella in Seattle, and might have been in Tampa Bay as well.

Lester Strode has been the Cubs minor league pitching coordinator for 11 years now.

Yeah, Sinatro was also the bullpen coach at Tampa Bay. Strode was a pitching assistant for the big league Cubs in 1994 and 1995 before going to the minor league pitching coordinator job.

Elia, who resigned as bench coach for the Orioles, doesn't seem too interested in taking the Cubs job.

Link.

Elia, who has logged 45 seasons in professional baseball, said he hasn't ruled out returning to the game in a scouting or player development capacity. Elia spoke with new Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella, his former boss in Tampa Bay, about a job, but said that taking any job that will keep him on the road for extended periods is "extremely remote."

Oh god. Flashback to those terrible Red Roof Inn commercials.... :-#
