If the Mets make it, they'll win 1.

If the Cards make it, they'll probably win 4 just to make me gouge my eyes out.

I concur.

Seems to be the way things are going this year.

Psh. No way the Tigers lose. Want to know why? Neifi Perez is a winner and is their savior. The Tigers will only lose a game if Neifi Perez deems the other team worthy of winning one.

Tigers in 5.

I really don't see why the Mets would give the Tigers a run. The Yanks had the best offense in the league and the Tigers laughed at them.

The debate on that is how much the Yankees folded and how much the Tigers shut them down.

And the fact that it was a short series that really doesn't have much predictive value.

true, and while I agree with that sentiment, I really can't see a lesser team that's starting Oliver Perez or Jeff Weaver in the post-season doing much damage in the world series against a clearly superior team.

Then again, i said the same thing about both teams at the start of the post-season.

I think that the Detroit sweep coupled with the 6 (at least) game NLCS, further delayed by weather, kills the momentum of the Tigers. I still think they can win the WS, but they are going to have been sitting around for a week without playing ball

How will Detroit's young pitchers hold up this late in the season? It's pretty much uncharted territory for them.

Is Zumaya available for this series?

One advantage for the Tigers that no one really talks about is that they won't suffer as much for not having a DH in the NL park.

I agree with this. Baseball players arent use to sitting for a week. Its not Detorit needed to rest the pen or starters. BP aint the same thing as live pitching. Rogers has pitched 2 outstanding games in the playoffs. He's a good pitcher but pitching 3 in a row is a tough task.

I havent looked but im going to guess the Tigers have been really good with RISP. I dont have facts supporting this, its just what i seem to see.

Mets have a great lineup, if Detoit doesnt pitch well they will get ransacked. Detroit starters have been pitching out of their minds, expect a regression. Detroit has an advantage with rogers and roberston being lefties against the mets lefty lineup.

Carpenter can win 2 games for the Cardinals alone.

Detroit doesn't have a bad offense themselves, though. Against what should be a weak Mets pitching staff, they'll be okay. Over 800 runs this year, no? 203 homers.

After posting this originally I read an article that said historically, teams with as much as the Tigers got win the World Series at a very high %

Yeah and then i was reminded of the White Sox 6 days rest last year

But the White Sox won because of their pitching last year and not hitting. I dont think the Tigers have the same rotation as the Sox last year, especially Contreras.

Also i was thinking if the Tigers win this will be another high AVG low OBP team to win the WS. Anaheim/White Sox and maybe the Tigers.
