How's MJ's kid doing?

Neither Jeffrey or Marcus have done too much. Loyola seems to be a very balanced team. Four or five guys might play at the nextr level, but I don't think there is a major school player there.

Who does High School Rankings?

How could Gordon's team not be ranked?

I think this is ESPN's rankings. And any high school team with three losses probably won't be nationally ranked.

But then again the Hoosier fans also said that Deron Williams would be lucky to carry Eric Gordon's bags in a few years. You know the same Deron Williams who might make the All Star team.

I think it's a joke that it's being said around the league that Williams might be an All-Star. I know you agree, but what more does he have to do?

He didn't make it, but could replace Boozer. What a farce. But then again Nash isn't even starting so what does it really mean?

Understandable.

But that doesn't mean a team with 0 losses is necessarilly good.

Its high school, how could you possibly rank them?

You can't. I think it is dumb that they try.

Watching Eric Gordon play makes me happy. He has 15 of North Central's 19 points with 2:30 left in the first quarter.

I hope this is as good as his career gets.

Good luck with that.

Kelvin Torbert Bracey Wright, it has happened before. That said I don't think it will here.

Gordon is much higher regarded than Bracey. I don't remember the Torbert hype, so I won't comment on how highly he was though of. EJ would be a top 10 pick if he could go pro right now. At no point in his life was Bracey a top 10 pick. Plus, I know this is a high school game, but EJ has gone to the basket more times tonight than Bracey did his whole career in college.

Torbert was thought to be pretty much the best HS player in the nation coming out of High School. While he had a fine career at Michigan State(I think he went to 2 Final Fours), his performance definitely didn't match his hype. By his senior year he was second fiddle to Chris Hill and Alan Anderson.

Gotcha. Well, it's always a possibility, but I would not bet on it with Gordon.

By the way he now has 26 points with 2 min left in the first half. His season average of 33.8 points per game on 60% FG's is about to go up.

But, no one would have bet on it with Torbert either. It is a high school game, he is so much stronger than all these kids. I can't believe how fast he is is combined with the strength.

I just think you are grasping at straws hoping he will be a "Torbert". I understand it is only a high school game, I don't expect him to put up 28 in a half in college. We wouldn't be having this conversation if he was Illini bound, the kid is just very special. He is strong, he is fast, he has a great inside game, and he has a great outside game.

Game Update:

Halftime: EJ has 28 points, 3 rebounds, 11-16 from the field. North Central up big on Loyola 50-27.

No crap, you think he would be this great to you if the situation was reversed. I am sure if it was though ESPN would blur the facts to make us look good too. I wonder if he shows up when we play at Illinois next year or if he petitions to have it moved like he did this game? The kid has great basketball skills and lacks social morals and makes poor choices.

HAHA. Cry me a river. Look at the big ten standings and tell me how he made a poor choice? If he decided to go to Illinois I would have been very disappointed, but I wouldn't have been saying he might be a bust in college. The guy is obviously legit. He made a decision to go to his favorite school once they hired a real coach, and a school with a better basketball team than the other school he had verballed to. Don't worry he'll show up in Illinois next year, in an INDIANA uniform.

I don't think going to Indiana was the bad choice. Stringing Illinois and Weber along was. He should have just came out and said to Bruce, hey things changed. You know like an adult would. How did his dad not steer him that way?

Northwestern lost to Minnesota at home last night. Care to give us back our win at NU ronnie??

That was a bad loss for the Cats, but they have also stuck with UW and OSU at home for most of those games, so it's not like they are always that bad.

They've also let bad Western Michigan, Miami, and Loyola MD teams stick with them on their home court, not to mention a 1 point win over 0-20 vs. D1 N. Florida and a 2 point win over D3 Wheaton College. They have 3 losses to sub-150 RPI teams, 2 of them at home the other a blowout against Penn St. They have one win against a top 100 team, that being Depaul(69) the 2nd game of the year.

You didn't like the rest of my post?

I didn't like the rest of your post because it didn't apply to what I was talking about. Illinois against Purdue was one of their worst performances of the year, and definitely their worst of Big 10 play. Yes, if Illinois plays their worst game of the year, they could easily lose to NU, but you predicted UI to lose to NU, you never said anything about they better not play like crap again, or if NU gets hot, it was a flat out prediction, and it's kind of absurd. if I said IU is going to lose to Iowa on Saturday because you know how tough road games are in the Big 10, additionally Indiana looked terrible against U of I, you'd call me out for complete BS, and you'd be completely right. And that's with an Iowa team that hasn't looked nearly as incompetent as NU lately.

I agree. Ranking high school football and basketball is stupid. I guess it helps the hype.

Ok, that's one way to look at it. He wasn't very mature in his handling of it. My parents would have made me tell Weber to his face what was going on. You know since they would have wanted me to be a man about it. Part of growing up is doing things that aren't fun.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if Illinois loses to NU. I still think the only reason we won at Minnesota is because Minnesota is a pathetic basketball team. Had Minnesota only been a "really bad" team instead of pathetic, I think they would've beaten Illinois. Anyway, I fully expect Illinois to lose at least one of the two ---at NU or at PSU.

Uh...what? Frank was one of the best players Illinois has seen. Sure he didn't have success in the NBA, but he was a great college player. Bracey Wright was supposed to be one of the best players in all of college basketball and he was nothing but a constant disappointment. To throw Frank Williams in that list is kind of a joke.

True, but I don't really consider Bracey a bust because of talent, but more because of injury. He was great the first part of his freshman year before his back injury, but he stopped taking the ball to the basket after his back surgery-which only left him with his good but incredibly streaky outside shot. Add to that an Indiana team that forced him to throw up contested 25-30 footers constantly, and a really bad situation quickly results.

Starts putting it together means not playing like dogs***? You honestly expected the Illinois team that played Purdue to be the team that showed up the rest of the year? Again reverse the situations, (following ILLINOIS BEATING INDIANA)"unless Indiana starts putting it together, I think they lose at Iowa, Purdue, Michigan, and MSU" You'd laugh your ass off and probably come up with some new Eric Gordon factoid. To consider a team's true talent level based one game is ridiculous, especially when you just saw them play a better game 4 days earlier against your own [expletive] team.

And again, you didn't say it was possible. Possible means it's not impossible for it to happen. Your predicting means you deem it likely, which is absurd.

I have no problem with Gordon changing his mind, but he and his father should've notified the coach you gave a verbal commitment to that you are opening up recruitment. My suspicion is that they knew what they were doing wasn't proper etiquette and just decided to say nothing. But it does beg the question, do recruits sign with the school or with the coach?

It is possible life will cease to exist on earth tomorrow as well. That said I wouldn't predict it.
