How are we supposed to get a read on any of our young pitchers if the position players are going to make all these errors every game. Bynum makes 3 errors in one game and he doesn't even get pulled. In addition, please explain to me how a guy who has a .907 fielding percentage at second base and has a .315 OBP plays 3 games in a row while the guy with the .386 OBP and .984 fielding percentage at second base sits the bench. Are they trying to make a decison on whether to DFA Bynum or not. Does putting a quality team on the field not matter. Just another big mystery about this season.

theriot doesn't listen - he was clearly sent up to pinchhit - not to pinchwalk.

Why is Bynum the only rookie Dusty will defend?

I have my theory, but I'm not opening that can of worms tonight.

Vance, I think I can read your mind, and there definitly seems to be a pattern there.

I agree.

It's crossed my mind a couple times. Dangerous thinking though.

No argument here...

I'm behind this as well, and I have mentioned it once before. Not much to argue here. History is history.

I'll just come right out and say it...it's because Dusty just likes...uh...rhyming first names and jr's!!

Johnnie B Jr.

Freddy Lee Jr.

Whew. There, I said it. I feel better..the truth set me free!

Who is the only player Dusty ever berated on the field?

Oh, that's right, it was Corey.

On April 8, 2003, Cubs.com[/url]"] "When you start struggling, you start thinking 'OK, I can't do that anymore, I have to do this, I can't do that,'" Bellhorn said. "Then you go out one day and don't think and don't get a hit and you're like, 'Oh, I have to do this tomorrow.'"

"He's been struggling," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said of Bellhorn. "It's a work day, a day to go hit and hit and hit and hit until your hands bleed. It usually takes about 24, 48 hours for your muscles to memorize what you're practicing. Hopefully we'll see some results tomorrow or the next day most likely."

It's not unusual to struggle. Bellhorn's just unlucky enough to do so early.

"I'd just like to have him get a little more aggressive in the count," Baker said. "When you're going bad, you're 0-2 before you leave the dugout. When you're not going good, they're making tough pitches on you."
