Damn, and I was hoping OSU would be the ones to expose and embarass ND again in the Fiesta Bowl. Oh well.

No more title aspirations for the Irish!

You'd have to be pretty thin-skinned to be embarrassed by a 14-point loss to an extremely talented team.

You should have been embarassed by that defensive effort. 617 yards is ungodly.

I shouldn't have been embarrassed by anything, because I had nothing to do with it. Ever the optimist, I prefer to note that the Irish still had a chance to come back and win up until 2 minutes were left in the game despite the bad defense.

How is Samardzija doing?

Not well enough. Couldn't have dropped the ball if he tried last year, not so much this year.

If - and its a big if - things go right, ND could possibly have a chance to get in as a one loss team. I think this year may only see one undefeated team in OSU, WVU, or LU and all of those teams have a game or two they could easily lose.

Of course its a long shot but I have to remain somewhat optimistic :D

By LU I'm assuming you mean Louisville. WVU and LU still have to play each other this year so that eliminates one of them. And since you are assuming Notre Dame finishes with one loss, that means USC will lose a game. Aside from Ohio State (who I think will beat Michigan and run the table) the team(s) you are forgetting is the winner of the Auburn/Florida game. I think a one-loss Notre Dame could jump ahead of an undefeated WVU or Louisville because of the strength of schedule but they will not jump ahead of an undefeated SEC team.

As for "THE" call. Lemme say I am thankful for it. Everyone knows LSU would have scored with a fresh 4 downs. Yes, the defender touched the player first. No argument there. However, maybe the ref thought that because the dude touched it there was no way he could have caught it. Not saying that is right, but that may have been his thoughts.

I think the referee most definately made the correct call. I don't see a difference between that play and the quarterback overthrowing a receiver by 10 yards. Either way the ball is uncatchable. You can't interfere with the pass if the pass wouldn't have been caught anyway.

As for domination on Saturday, you can witness it here. UC Davis dominated every single aspect of that game. In our two games against DI-AA opponents we have outscored them 83-7. I love it. Can't wait for the home games.

I wouldn't really worry about K-State. If I had to rank the teams in the B12N, I'd go:

1. Missouri

2. Nebraska

3. ISU

4. KU

5. KSU

6. CU

There could probably be some shuffling 3-5, but generally, I'd view Neb as Mizzou's real competition

Oh definitely, once KSU starts playing real teams they're gonna get smoked. I'm not going to think of Mizzou as a favorite until they make it through the CU game though. I will say, it helps that Nebraska and Mizzou are the only teams that have looked strong so far.

How long has it been since Mizzou has beaten KSU? Oh, btw, our defense and special teams are back to being good this year. If our offense makes some strides, you'll be eating your words.

He made a pretty nice TD catch thouhg. IMO, after this season there is no way he plays baseball. He has the size, the speed, and the hands to be a first round pick.

Well I did consider those two teams but since Florida also has Georgia, LSU and FSU and Auburn has has to play Georgia as well, if Florida can beat Auburn and either LSU, FSU, or Georgia beat Florida, my plan will work. Like it said, it is pretty unlikely but figuring out stuff like this gives me more teams to root for every weekend.

One thing that would hurt ND is the decisive level of the defeat against Michigan. If Auburn loses a close game to Florida, and LSU beats Florida in a close game, while those three will have one loss, two and maybe even three of them could still end up ranked higher.

I am rooting for BCS chaos right now.

Should be interesting to see how KSU does against Louisville. They'll be without their two star players, but it didn't seem to matter against Miami. That will be the biggest gage as to how "good" the Wildcats really are.

Contrary to popular belief (as Cubs fans), the past does not always reflect what could happen this year. You guys barely beat Illinois State and weren't impressive versus Marshall. I think you'll have some problems on our field during our Homecoming. But, we've got a lot of other teams to worry about first.

What happened to Big XII sports? Granted, OU got robbed, but as a conference, we've been pretty bad. ANd aside from KU, A&M, and UT, the beat will go on in hoops.

Hey now, Mike Anderson scheduled 21 home games against the likes of Army and Stetson for a reason.

Yeah, the SEC keeps beating up on itself. But a 1-loss SEC team is more likely to get in than Notre Dame. Plus, I think ND is going to lose to USC.

Oh, I know it is very unlikely for ND to get in. I am just trying to be optimistic. And if ND plays like it did yesterday they will lose to every other team they play.

Article on new AP Poll

Not at the very top, though, as Ohio State remained No. 1 for the fourth straight week. The Buckeyes received 59 first-place votes from a panel of 65 media members.

Notre Dame's first loss of the season vacated a spot right behind Ohio State, and Auburn took advantage. The Fighting Irish fell to No. 12.

The Tigers, who beat LSU 7-3, have their highest ranking since tying for No. 2 with Oklahoma on Nov. 13, 2004. The Tigers received two first-place votes and are the third team to hold the second spot in the Top 25 this season, along with Notre Dame and Texas.

Southern California, which remained No. 2 in the USA Today coaches' poll, is No. 3 and West Virginia is up to No. 4. Both the Trojans and Mountaineers received two first-place votes. Florida is fifth, up two places after a 21-20 win at Tennessee.

Michigan moved up five spots to No. 6 after its 47-21 victory at Notre Dame, and the Fighting Irish fell 10 spots to No. 12. Texas is No. 7, and the Longhorns now have the longest current streak of poll appearances at 96, dating to Oct. 15, 2000.

Louisville moved up four spots to No. 8 after sending Miami to its first 1-2 start since 1997. The Hurricanes received 78 points, leaving them second behind Alabama among the others receiving votes.

Georgia was No. 9 and LSU slipped four spots to No. 10. No. 11 was Virginia Tech, followed by Notre Dame and Oregon, which jumped five spots after its wild 34-33 victory over Oklahoma.

It appears the every top 10 team has to play another top 10 team at some point this season. I think this is going to be an awesome - yet unpredictable - CFB season.
