Kerry Wood to pitch in October.

I guess he is planning on getting a head start on his 2007 season ending injury.

Haha.

But really, I HATE that he has to be injured like this. I remember when he was amazing. Too bad he has to be a reliever now. :(

He could still be an amazing reliever/closer.

Hasn't the deadline requiring players to be on a team's roster before that player can participate in that team's postseason already passed? If so, I guess he could still pitch the first day or two of October.

Yes, Aug. 31 was the last day. But this thread is talking about pitching in a rehabilitation sense, not in an actual game.

I'm still on the 'work out a incentive laden deal to be a reliever' bandwagon.

Man I don't know..I think we have been so patient with Wood and his inability to ever stay healthy has to be a concern. if he were 25 or 26 I would say give him the incentive laden contract but he's 29 and hasn't done much for the Cubs the past 2 seasons.

Is this implying that Wood will be a Cub next season?

Sure seemed like it to me.

Could he be displaying the status of his health to the Cubs and other teams?

Could he at least change his name to Les Lancaster?

I'd love to have Wood back on an incentive laden deal as a reliever. He'd be great for the back end and would be more likely to stay healthy not trying to throw 100 pitches every outing.
