Obviously a lot can change in the next 9 months. He could suck next year...He could sign Scott Boras as his agent...his arm could fall off...he could get abducted by aliens...he could get Matt Leinart pregnant...the possibilities are endless. In the meantime, the race is on! May the worst team win.

I am far to lazy to look this up so I will ask someone else to instead. Who do KC, TB and PIT have to play for thier remaining games? Im wondering what our chances are. I dont want to get my hopes up.

Cubs only a game back of TB and 1.5 back of KC!

Other action tonight:

TB: Seo (3-10, 5.20) @

TOR: Halladay (16-5, 3.21)

--Might as well not even play the game... Tampa is an automatic loser, or in Fecal League ways, a winner.

SEA: Cruceta (0-0, 6.75) @

KC: Hudson (7-5, 5.25)

--Here's a good one, as far as the Cubs are concerned. Cruceta has had just one outing this year, with 1.1 IP and 1 ER, but his career numbers in the minors (3.84 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) are not great and those figures would be much worse if not for his success in the early minors. His ERA last year was over 5 and his ERA this year at Tacoma was 4.17, but with 17 HR allowed and a 1.41 WHIP. Hudson isn't very good, but then again, neither is anybody else on Kansas City. Since a disastrous 10 run first inning against Cleveland, he's actually been pretty good. Go Royals!

NYM: Martinez (9-5, 3.84) @

PIT: Maholm (7-10, 4.90)

--On the surface, this looks bad for the Pirates, but it's Pedro's first game back from the DL, so he might not be sharp, and he'll almost certainly not go very deep in the ballgame. Malholm has a 1.50 ERA against the Mets this year, and the Mets are just 5-11 against LHP since August 1. I'm hopefully the Pirates can keep their "hot streak" going. After all, they're 6-4 in their last 10, which for a team as bad as the Pirates is hot.

Having a pitcher leave with an injury while pitching a no-hitter is creative, even for the Cubs. A much-needed loss to get back on track after the Dodgers series. Well done.

Pittsburgh is slowly pulling out of the race after they laid down and lost for the Mets 5-3. Come on Pirates, tank already! :D

TB put up a heck of a fight, but they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory after giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the 10th to win 4-5. :(

Despite an attempted rally in the 9th, KC beat the Mariners 8-11. :(

I've got a feeling it will wind up a two-team race between Kansas City and Tampa Bay, with the Cubs coming in third. I'm not giving up, though; they could still pull it out with a long slide like they had earlier in the season.

I don't matter neither KC or TB are going to pop for Prcie, anyways. So possibly having the 3rd pick, is going to be as good as having the #1 pick.

Once again, looks like KC and PIT have the best shots at winning.

The D-Rays actually snatched defeat from the jaws of victory twice - first, allowing two runs in the bottom of the 9th, and then 2 more in the bottom of the 10th. Two chances to win, two blown saves.

Also, KC jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 2 innings and then proceeded to squander it away the rest of the game. I guess there's a good reason those two teams suck.
