I'm calling Mabry trade or Rusch DFA.

 

If Mabry gets traded, we need to call up another infielder, or else we'd be playing with 23 men.

 

Lee would likely be activated in that situation. I'm referring to freeing up the 40 man spot.

 

Hmm...good point. I'm not too happy with losing a left-handed bat, but that does sound like the best situation for the Cubs.

Walrond is a non-prospect. He's been bounced around from various organizations. He's not likely to be in the Cubs organization next year.

 

Like Ryan O'Mally, Walrond most redeeming quality is the fact he throws left handed, otherwise, he is what he is. But, I think O'Mally or Walrond can do exactly what Rusch does at fraction of Rusch's contract. Yet another reason why Glendon should go.

And if so, is he more geared toward the role of starter or middle reliever?

 

He was doing some middle relief, but that was because there were so many prospects and rehabbers who needed to start in Iowa at the time. He's primarily been a starter for the I-Cubs, his arm is stretched out.

 

Unlike O'Malley, Walrond does have much better splits against lefties - .221 BAA vs. .282.
