$9.6M transfer fee for Dempsey and he gets a three-year deal.

Congrats, Jozy Altidore, still the most expensive American player ever. Different economic world back then, but still.

@SoccerByIves

IF final tally winds up Bradley/Roma, Dempsey/Spurs, Onyewu/Malaga, Edu+Cameron/Stoke, Bocanegra/Santander, that's a GREAT window 4 USMNT

Ives raises an excellent point. Great summer window for us.

I had been searching for an EPL team to root for. This makes things easy.

Tim Howard kicks the goalpost in frustration. Landon Donovan would too, but he's just half-assing it.

I've been rooting for Tottenham for a little over two years and this just solidifies my fandom.

Same.

I've been looking for an EPL team for a while now. Was considering Liverpool, but not anymore. Tottenham it is!

Hmm I've been supporting Everton partially because of Tim Howard, but I'm getting bored of being a second flight club that doesnt have the resources to play with the big boys.

Not that Tottenham is typically a top of the table team, but at least they will be fun to watch.

Moving on to news from bigger clubs...

wvcbxl what can you tell me about Vadis Odjidja?

/wishes he could scrabble that sentance

As a Bruges fan, I'm hoping that deal falls through (Everton is reported to have filed the paperwork too late). If it doesn't , him teaming up with Fellaini is good practice for the national squad, I guess.

Good, hard working midfielder with a lot more technical skills than Fellaini, but less physical presence (and more prone to injuries)

I also have no trouble rooting for Spurs with the rest of you (because of Vertonghen and Dembele, obviously)

With Benteke (moves from Genk to Aston Villa) and possibly Odjidja, the influx of Belgian internationals in the EPL continues, while the Dutch seem to be leaving (Van der Vaart and De Jong)

Very, very disappointing for this Liverpool fan. Obviously would have loved to have Dempsey on the team as an American, but they also really, really could have used him. He would have fit great (they're now playing a 4-3-3 too) and while Spurs are better overall, with Liverpool he would have been able to play with/off Suarez (hey, sure he's a huge d, but he's miles better than any attacker Spurs have). Oh well, hope and expect Dempsey to do great at Spurs and probably open some eyes (his transfer fee was a bargain).

Another draw. At home vs Norwich? They were missing some fight in the second half. Clint has that in spades. He'll make a difference. Dembele was great today though.

Play Clint just under Adebayor, with Dembele behind him along with Parker. Lennon and Bale on the wings. Sigurdsson and Defore for offensive firepower off the bench. Problem solved.

You rate Parker over Sandro?

I do, but I'm biased because of the whole WWI fighter pilot hair he's got. He just looks like what an English midfielder is supposed to look like.

To me, they're fairly comparable. I think Parker offers just a touch more fight/grit/intangible in that DM spot to free up Dembele and Clint to attack.

What you're saying is that he can get it done on a rainy night at Stoke. Unlike Messi and other Mediterranean and south American players. I feel you, bro.

Also, he looks like one of the POWs in "Victory"

They look like a team that is missing its entire central midfield from last year and has a new manager.

Looking forward to seeing Clint play in a couple weeks.
