17,000+ tonight at Toyota Park. That's damn awesome for a crappy night.

Big ups to Section 8 and all the rest of the fans that came out.

Yup. It's warmer than it was in New England last week, but that place was a morgue. And a poorly populated one at that.

Los Angeles Galaxy striker Landon Donovan started a 10-day training period with Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The American international is a friend of Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann and jumped at the chance to train with the Bundesliga champions during the close season in Major League Soccer.

"I know Landon from my time with LA Galaxy," said Klinsmann.

"He is a fine lad, a very good footballer and a great personality in US soccer.

"Landon will spend the next 10 days training with us to keep his fitness levels up."

Donovan has previously played in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen but failed to shine, making just seven appearances between 2001 and 2005.

He is happy to be back, though.

"I am delighted that Jurgen Klinsmann and FC Bayern have given me the opportunity to get to know their new training centre and be able to keep myself fit alongside some great international footballers," he said.

The word that best sums up my feelings for this is trepidation. I want Landon in Europe, but not somewhere where I'll hate him if he busts.

That's just for the camp, fyi. Not the game yet. They'll add and subtract.

I just read that ](*,) . Got my hopes up.

Cooper will be in the squad, I'd bet on it. I'm glad that's not the final roster, because that is dog crap. That's a second rate MLS all star team.

I kind of expect to see that for the game, he was the only name I was really looking for.

Columbus downed the Fire 2-1.

However, that was a really, really good MLS game with a great atmosphere. Well played by both teams, I must say, although Blanco and Rolfe were horrid.

And I must say, I like this Robbie Rogers thing Columbus has.

Robbie Rogers has the potential to be viciously good.

I saw a ton of pace and skill. He was the one player out on the field that looked like he should be in Europe.

Crew Stadium must be like Mexican kryptonite, btw.

He was at Heerenveen but came back two years ago iirc.

He has a tendency to dive and whine as well as a tendency to foul stupid, but he can finish, he can shoot from distance and he is faster than Beasley.

My heart is all aflutter at the thought of Landon transferring to my team and taking his destiny by the horns. Or maybe that's the venti americano I just drank. I don't know. There is so much potential for disappointment with this Landon thing.

http://theoriginalwinger.com/2008-11-14-donovan-gets-klose-hoeness-and-klinsmann-approval

“He’s an outstanding footballer with bags of quality – and he’s only 26. I think he’d definitely make his mark in the Bundesliga,” said Miroslav Klose.

“THE really exceptional player in North America, Mexico included,” from Klinsmann.

“The lad can play, no doubt about it, ” General Manager Uli Hoeness.

If Hoeness is gives his stamp of approval, you've done something right. That is a hard man to please. Not as hard as the Kaiser, but Uli will be the one deciding if he is a player they want to buy and how much they will offer.

CONCACAF ruined Bayern's march to the top.

2-2 draw with Rob Friend and Michael Bradley evening it up in the 79th and 81st. Bradley wasn't involved in the first half, but neither was his entire team. He played strong box-to-box and put away a nice header after a great cross by his teammate.

Oh yeah, Neven Subotic celebrates pissing me off with a brace for Dortmund.

The Rome Derby was pretty entertaining.

In the end Roma beat the Naziest Team In Europe 1-0.

Lazio's #10 has to be the laziest, talented player I've ever seen.
