Rennes have signed USA defender Carlos Bocanegra on a free transfer following his release from Fulham last month.

The 29-year-old has penned a three-year deal with Guy Lacombe's men, according to Le'Equipe.

Bocanegra, the USA captain, made 116 starts for Fulham in a four-year stay but was not offered a new contract by Roy Hodgson despite playing a part in the club's escape from relegation.

The capture of Bocanegra means that Djimi Traore, who was on loan at Rennes last season, will return to Portsmouth.

Hmm...I don't know how legit that is.

He's in their Wiki, so maybe it's real.

Good for Boca.

Sacha's goal celebration last night was quality as well.

I'm still kinda miffed at Not Spain losing yesterday to the Fusswehr. And I'm also annoyed at Soccer Jesus' babbling about wanting to spurn Man U-who stood by his petulant self when all of England and Wayne Rooney wanted him dead-to go play for the dramabomb known as Real Madrid. If I were SAF I'd ask for $125m pounds, Robinho and 6 hot chicks.

Kenny Cooper had sex with Bob Bradley's wife.

GOALKEEPERS: Brad Guzan (Chivas USA: 1/1 SO), Dominic Cervi (out of contract: 0/0), Chris Seitz (Real Salt Lake: 0/0)

DEFENDERS: Carlos Bocanegra (out of contract: 12/1), Dan Califf (FC Midtjylland: 1/0), Jay DeMerit (Watford FC: 0/0), Drew Moor (FC Dallas: 0/0) Oguchi Onyewu (Standard de Liege: 8/0), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock: 1/0)

MIDFIELDERS: DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers: 15/4), Michael Bradley (SC Heerenveen: 1/1), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA: 0/0), Eddie Lewis (Derby County: 18/2), Danny Szetela (Brescia: 0/0), John Thorrington (Chicago Fire: 0/0)

FORWARDS: Freddy Adu (SL Benfica: 1/0), Chad Barrett (Chicago Fire: 0/0), Chris Rolfe (Chicago Fire: 0/0)

WTF is with those forwards?!

---------------------Guzan---------------------

----Boca----DeMerit----Gooch----Pearce----

----------------------Bradley-------------------

----Szetela----Kljestan----Adu---Beasley-----

-----------------------Rolfe----------------------

That would be a fun lineup. Well, the most fun lineup that is. There isn't a striker on that team (Chad Barrett will hopefully break his leg getting off the plane).

I think Bob Bradley looks at this tie as a way to perfect his ideal lineup:

A 4-6-0. Imagine how effective the empty bucket would be with 4 useless center mids!

For reals, though, it's going to be nice to see Adu, Sacha and Szetela hopefully feature. And if Chad Barrett gets an international goal I'm going to laugh so damn hard.

WOW! Croatia just scored in the 119th minute to take a 1-0 over Turkey.

Two Croatia players have completely missed the goal in the shootout.

And Turkey wins.

Craziest ending to a soccer game I have ever seen and I've played soccer since I was 4 and my dad coached for 15 years.

Its somewhat of a shame this happened at the same time the Cubs got the 9th inning walkoff. I say somewhat because it is now the best 20 minutes of my sports life as a fan. I was flipping over to the soccer game inbetween every pitch.

Well, I like Germany's chances against Turkey. Turkey will have 4 or so starters out. Hopefully the mojo ends.

Suddenly Germany is looking good.

The only 30 minutes I watched of the Euro 08 the entire time was the second extra time and penalty kicks of Croatia-Turkey. I think I am going to watch more soccer from now on

Russia takes the lead in the 56th minute. Should be interesting to see how the Dutch respond seeing as this is the first time they've been behind in the tournament.

They brought van Persie on at halftime and I'd assume they'll bring Robben on soon.
