Missed, but laughed when I got the score alert on my phone. Bobby Wood and Jurgen still aren't good, but I'll take it. We're gonna steamroll the gold cup. Mike Bradley is in killer mode.

Really hope we see Brad Evans more than Chandler at RB going forward. If we want a solid defender with good distribution to feel out the opponents before Yedlin comes in to blow them out, he's much better than Chandler.

Also, having seen the highlights, it's eery how much Jordan Morris reminds me of Donovan. That dummy got the ball to Wood, but also had him tearing open at the near post, classic LD.

Anyone else watching the u 20's think Cameron Carter Vickers has world class written all over him? He's got it all. He could be on the bench for Tottenham at 17.

I think I'm the only person in the world who thinks Megan Rapinoe has been garbage for the USWNT this WC.

Well she didn't do anything against Sweden, but she played pretty well against Australia.

In the U-20 quarters, both teams that had been dominant to this point, Germany and Portugal, both lost in PKs today.

US U-20s are still 0-0 at the half with Serbia. If they can win this, they'd face Mali in the semis.

Lost in the shootout. Some bad PKs for us. Steffan was great in the shootout. Made two good saves to extend the shootout and nearly made another one earlier in it.

Yeah, there were some real bad kicks for us.

Would've been nice to see this team compete full strength, but they acquitted themselves well. lots of players to be excited about. As talented as any u20 group in the tournament and that we've produced. As always the transition to senior club teams will be key. Zelalem has a ways to go strength wise and Tommy Thompson needs to play for a manager other than Dom Kinnear. CCV and Steffen are going to be monsters. Miazga is solid. Payne could be very good.

I wish I was as high on Hyndman and Rubio that a bunch of people who know more than me are, but I'm not quite sold. Hope they're right.

Seattle finished their USOC match against Portland with 7 men. Evans got a 2nd yellow(bad call) in the 2nd half, then Martins got hurt near the end of the second half right after the last sub came on. In extra time Azira got a straight red for an elbow(I missed it entirely on replay so I'm still not sure it was even a yellow), and then to cap it off, Dempsey was so fed up he took the ref's card and tore it up.

That's hilarious. I thought you made the Dempsey part up.

That game was absolutely crazy at the end. The Seattle fans lost their cool and ended up throwing things at the Timbers/Officials, not good.

MLS won all 9 matches yesterday (a couple of PK close calls for San Jose and Philadelphia, Sounders 2 choked away a lead against RSL). Cosmos are the only NASL team left, but I think they have the better shot than any USL team of advancing since they are playing NYCFC. Charleston against Orlando, Richmond against Columbus could also pretty likely produce some upsets.

Also, it's pretty cool that you can watch these live on the US Soccer Youtube channel. Hope that continues through all rounds.

If you're going to get run from a game, that's the way to do it. Legendary.

FWIW supposedly the Azira red was for raking his studs against a PTFC player's leg, but I didn't see it either. If nobody can figure out why it's a red, it's probably not a red.

Seriously, though, something tells me that that ref won't be working any USOC games the rest of the way.

Sounders pbp man Ross Fletcher basically called that the ref was going to be trouble early in the broadcast because of his haircut. It was hilarious. He basically said he had the haircut of a pedant. Turned out to be very, very accurate.

Hopefully Deuce doesn't get suspended. That was an all-time DP power move though.

Edit - So apparently Deuce could be suspended up to 3 months following the letter of the law. That includes MLS, Open Cup and National Team. Also, the ref has issued 19 cards, 4 reds in only three center assignements.

So, does he start against Honduras in the first game of the Gold Cup after 3 weeks off? With the way Bradley has been playing in the attack and the return of Jozy, I wouldn't mind Dempsey coming in as a sub with Zardes getting the start.

Love seeing Brazil become the shitshow that they are now with Neymar getting booted from the Copa. No where close to the same team that they used to be.

And Serbia takes the U20's over Brazil.

Of course. Knew that would happen. At least I can stand by my "as talented as any team in the tourney" opinion. Really would have loved to see that team with two healthy forwards.

Hilarious play aside, that was a pretty fun one to watch. Rimando and Melia each made some really nice plays in goal. It was a little disappointing that the Zusi/Feilhaber/Nemeth/Dwyer attack couldn't put together more. Bright side of the Feilhaber non-call up is that SKC doesn't get completely decimated in July.

I don't want to over-generalize, but every romance language speaking country is an absolute travesty to the sport of soccer and should be embarrassed to put on a uniform

Gold Cup

GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa/2007), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake/2011, 2013), William Yarbrough (Club Leon)

DEFENDERS (7): Ventura Alvarado (Club America), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC/2009), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy/2013), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Tim Ream (Bolton Wanderers/2011)

MIDFIELDERS (9): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake/2009, 2013), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes/2011, 2013), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC/2007, 2011), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo/2005), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC/2013), Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham Hotspur), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

FORWARDS (4): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC/2011), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC/2005, 2007, 2011), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes/2011, 2013)

BRAD DAVIS? Yedlin a MF? Wondo? Matt Besler must be too buddy-buddy with Feilhaber. DeMarcus Beasley comes back for friendlies but not GC? Fab a defender?
